In Louisiana, negligent homicide only applies if the killing was a result of the defendant criminal negligence. Not sure how it is written in Florida (some states limit it to just a killing caused by operation of a vehicle while DUI, Louisiana considers that Vehicular Homicide) but if it is similar to Louisiana’s it would not apply here. Zimm was not doing anything illegal at the time. In my opinion, the only other crime he could be charged with, (assuming the law is the same in Florida), is manslaughter which in Louisiana is the killing of a human being with the specific intent to kill or cause great bodily harm in a sudden passion or heat of blood.
To me, they should just fine this dude and hit him with some felony and probation, and make it to where he cannot own a firearm again. Case closed. Neeeeeeeeext.
In my opinion this was never a race issue, Zimm was following him because there were 8 or so break-ins in the neighborhood recently that were said to have been committed by teenage black men. I see nothing wrong in the scenario keeping an eye on someone who he did not recognized that fit the profile to see what he is up to. That is the whole purpose of having a neighborhood watch. Law enforcement uses profiling all the time and yes, race always plays a factor in their profiles…just as it did when they were pulling over white males driving white pick-ups at random in Baton Rouge looking for the BR Serial Killer. Hmmm….on second thought…that guy indeed up being black…maybe racial profiling doesn’t work after all. Now with that said the idiot had no reason to confront him or leave his vehicle, that is where he first went wrong in my opinion.
Even Trayvon's mother thinks it was an accident. But the disgusting media, and the disgusting race baiting assholes in it, Al Sharpton, and even Bill Maher who I really like, are making this something it isn't.
Interesting that you mentioned that….in Louisiana he would have lost his concealed weapon permit and could no longer carry after his previous arrest. Not saying that he would have not had a gun on him anyway that night but that is one area where Louisiana and Florida law differs. One has to wonder if the Florida law was like Louisiana, would this of even happened.
False... he was completely exhonerated of those past charges, and until last night had no convictions or charges pending against him. So no, he would still be carrying a legal concealed firearm.
ah...well there you go. Prime example of the bad reporting by the media. The article I read said he still had charges pending.
The media in this whole thing has been about as criminal as what actually happened. Spike Lee and other celebrities tweeting a fake GZ address putting innocent peoples lives in jeopardy, the Black Panthers calling for a million $ bounty, and if TM was so innocent... explain why the news outlets had to show pictures of him from 5 years ago making him look like some regular day hero. He didnt live in the neighborhood he was shot, he was temporarily staying there since he was kicked out of school for drug paraphanelia, so of course GZ wouldn't have recognized him... and if the kid wasn't so caught up in the thug life, he'd prolly still be alive.
i am not disgusted with the media, because i dont consume it. if it disgusted me i wouldnt watch it, i would play a video game or go meet some sluts. those things are fun.
