So the part about the Sanford police bungling this investigation and having a questionable history in regard to race relations didn't make this a racial issue? Or the "fucking coon" (debatable if thats what he said) or the "they" always get away with this stuff. Or the profiling. Oh. Okay. Didn't know that. Thanks guys. Not saying the media didn't exacerbate the tensions, because they did. But the racial issue began well before that. Not the media, Al, Jesse, POTUS, nor anyone else made it racial. Zimmerman did. Period. Even if he's ultimately acquitted, which is very likely by the letter of the Florida law, Zimmerman caused this when he racially profiled a black kid in a predominately white neighborhood. Even if he can't be found criminally liable, he's certainly civilly liable. He could've avoided all of this by calling the police if he thought Martin was suspicious, then going on to Target like he claims he was.
Like I said, I didn't know all of the details. You posted some things that I was unaware of. I'll hold my opinion on whether or not it was racial. But I still stand by my earlier post. The fat rent-a-cop shouldn't have pursued Trayvon Martin....when he did, the "Stand Your Ground" argument went out of the window for Zimmerman. He will be charged and he deserves it.
Both were in trouble with the law. Zimmerman was arrested for beating up his girlfriend, resisting arrest, and beating up a police officer. Zimmerman's dad was a judge. Funny how the law works when your dad is a judge. Martin was suspended for weed, trespassing on public property, and graffiti. http://racerelations.about.com/b/2012/03/31/george-zimmermans-history-of-violence.htm http://gma.yahoo.com/trayvon-martin...ms-school-151838644--abc-news-topstories.html
Most of those were black on black crimes. Al, Jesse and the black panthers don't care about that. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/race-wars-part-1-the-shocking-data-on-black-on-black-crime/
Why didn't ANY of these cases make national news or riots? Why in today's world is race still an issue? http://www.newnation.org/NNN-Black-on-White.html
both of them are kinda to blame, i am guessing (obviously i dunno). but i suspect martin started fighting when he shouldnt have. he was kinda a ghetto punk kid always getting suspended from school. my guess is he told zimmerman to fuck off they and they argued and fought until zimmerman pulled the gun, at which point martin screamed and begged, but zimmerman was pissed so he killed him. all speculation though and obviously we have no idea. both of them are idiots i think. dont care about the race angle at all.
I just learned that we can now openly type "fuck" on this board and it doesn't get censored. This is a great day.
I have never been more disgusted with the media than I am today. They are fueling this bullsh!t for ratings. Maybe this some deep seeded racial thing, but lets be honest for a minute, there is no way in a million years this will ever change. It's pointless because, I don't consider myself racist, but if I see a kid roaming the streets at night in a hoodie, black, white, asian, latino, I don't care, I'm suspicious. You can't help but stereotype, and profile at times. The dude should have just called the cops and let that be that. And the Martin kid shouldn't have provoked it even further. Let's face it, this kid is dead because Zimmerman didn't listen to 9-11 and Martin was an idiot for trying to be confrontational and a hard ass trying to take the gun, if in fact that is how it went down. That being said, I can't even watch the news anymore, this whole racial bullsh!t is ridiculous, it would be one thing questioning deep seeded racism, but they make it out like the Zimmerman dude, said to himself "fuckin a sweet, i gets tah shoots me a negro tonight" I mean come on.
Just saw TM's parents on TV, and they seem to have their heads on straight now that Zim's in jail. Hopefully everyone will calm down now and let the system work. Zim has to face some kind of reckoning. Don't know if we'll ever know what really happened that night, but some things are indisputable; a 17-year old kid is dead, he shouldn't be dead, and we know who killed him. Don't know whether Zim will get murder-one, manslaughter, or even just wrongful death. But I don't see how he can walk away with a "not guilty." I think, as interesting as the trial will be, the reaction to the verdict (if its anything less than manslaughter) from the stir-the-racism-pot crowd will be equally interesting.
