I don't know. Wasn't he the LB coach at Bama? They've had their fair share of great LBs, which has been a weakness of ours. Maybe he can bring that here?

But ultimately, I agree. Very underwhelming choice. Probably the last of all candidates I wanted to see.

His defense at Clemson did give up 70pts to W. Virginia in his last game there.

 

While I don't think this is a homerun hire, reportedly Steele is part responsible for the #1 recruiting classes Bama brings in. Like said in the post above, he also coaches LB'ers, maybe we'll get an upgrade there with bigger beefier guys in the middle.

Recruiting hasn't been a problem under Miles unless you want to talk QBs. What we needed from this hire was a good DC not just another recruiter. Definitely not thrilled with this hire. Orgeron would have been a much much better choice. Pendergast would have been world's better.
