you dont think his agent would approve of him pushing for the gig on local radio? hell yes he would and probably instructed him to do so. you were insinuating there was basically nothing to him wanting the job or LSU showing interest when clearly he has some and it seems hes on LSU's list by all accounts. guarded (opt)imism? well yeah that goes for anyone we want. is he a viable/feasible candidate? yes. will les hire him? no. thats my belief which has no real basis. kathy must really post here.
Absolutely right. As much as I want the answer now I want even more that the process be thorough and the right decision made. I have also said that the decisions made by Miles during this off season will be some of the most critical of his career. It's imperative that he nails the DC and the QB issue. I hope he is smart enough to realize this, wise enough to make the right decision and take action. Makes ya feel all giddy inside huh?
People in the know, has LSU run into financial trouble? Otherwise, why would we let a solid defensive coach go to a division rival (in an important recruiting area) for a million dollars? I still don't understand it! We could argue back and forth but Chavis is a top flight coach and worth retaining. Seems like LSU is going Joe Dean style cheap. Was Chavis really concerned about Miles' job security? Miles' buyout makes him bulletproof. I really feel like he has some of the best job security in the country.
I don't think there is any doubt Alabama and Texas A&M are willing to spend more money on football than LSU is, maybe I'm wrong but I would be shocked if so.
Didn't LSU have the highest paid coaching staff in the NCAA last year? Football facilities rank up there with the best IMO. I'm not sure what the source of friction was, but I find it hard to believe that it was just couple hundred thousand dollars.
Assistants were paid higher but I don't think the entire staff was paid more. I also think they are willing to spend more on recruiting and facilities. I may be wrong but I don't think I am.
I read yesterday theat Stoops would be asked if he wanted the job, and that was it. Personally I liked what I heard right away and that was Pendergast. Orgeron at first said he wasn't interested and then changed his mind. Stoops had a lousy season and I don't know enough about SHoop....
not only money but in bama they expend more energy on college football than anywhere else. i dont know if you can measure some gump to joules ratio but being they have no other game in town, or state for that matter, that place never deviates from the same mindset as adolf saban. which is why they are a perfect fit and nothings changing soon. how many 5 stars can they pile up. maybe saban can finally coach them up next year. heres the difference in what im talking about: oh no, its normal to fund $3+ mill houses for $7 mill college coaches. and thats just whats public. ya see, this is alabama's nfl team and they treat it as such. theres extreme fanbases like LSU. and then theres that. with a whole lot of joules changing hands.
There are places who spend a fortune on those things including Oregon and Notre Dame. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.
Lol. Nice. . Since 2009, Saban has signed 30 5-star recruits from 11 states (that’s coast to coast, Florida to California). During the same time frame, the other three playoff participants combined have 29. Florida State has accumulated 17, Ohio State eight and Oregon four. Maybe one day people will find out how much money Phil Knight has spent. No disrespect meant to GDF...DeAnthony Thomas got a whole lotta cash to head to Eugene.
