The only "still playing" coach that makes sense is the DC from Oregon. I'm not sure I buy that line though. It coule be a smokescreen for Les to get more time.
I'm with you there. Nothing special about him anyway. I'd rather him have hired some of the guys he has already passed on.
How do we know he passed on them? We don't really know anything..... other than Les hasn't officially hired anyone yet.
LSU isnt special when it comes to coaching hunts, they are like every other college team in the nation. When they have zeroed in on a possible candidate, you will hear about it. You heard about Shoop, Pendergast. Pendergast took his name out and Shoop decided to stay where he was. Leaks happen everywhere, and the fact that there are no current leaks means Leslie is twittling his thumbs trying to decide if he really wants to do the Brick promotion. If LSU was flooded with candidates, you'd hear about at least a few of them. The article posted by LSUDad was by someone with a Les infatuation, doing damage control for their daddy. I'm not buying it.
Buy what you want. Take a step back. This is an important hire. You really think Pendergrast took his name out of consideration? How about.... he and Les talked.... and Les wasn't sold on him for whatever reason. Pendergrast "removing his name from consideration" saves face for him too.....
Shoop was never offered the job. It works both ways, Les makes calls to talk with a coach, contacts his agent. Sometimes a coaches agent contacts the agent for Les. A coach doesn't want it known that he's looking at another job. It's not like they get a resume and half to call former bosses for a reference.
I want Les to get the right coach for LSU. I do not want him to rush this, it makes zero sense. Sure, I would have loved for this process to be over with in a quick manner. However, sometimes it takes time. If we lose out on a kid over a DC then he was never truly a sure thing. One thing Miles has done a great job with has been hiring coaches.
