Maybe not? Nice write-up: LSU’s DC search could “linger”; school flooded with top-flight college coordinators, NFL coordinators January 11, 2015 Ross Dellenger 0 Comments LSU’s search for a defensive coordinator may last several more days, possibly through the weekend, and the position continues to receive interest from top-flight college coordinators and some NFL coordinators. But any new names? That we don’t have. John Chavis left LSU for Texas A&M, and the Tigers continue to search for a replacement. (Bill Feig) Coach Les Miles has kept the search for John Chavis’ replacement tight-lipped, and only a handful of candidates have emerged. Penn State defensive coordinator Bob Shoop is one of few who have officially and seriously interviewed for the position. The search for Chavis’ replacement could “linger,” according to Footballscoop.com, a trusted and often accurate site with deep roots in the college coaching community. LSU has been “flooded” with interest in the position from a host of coaches, including NFL assistants, one source close to the staff told The Advocate. Former and current NFL coordinators have applied, the source said. It’s not a stretch to think LSU could pull an NFL assistant coach or coordinator. Georgia, for instance, recently hired St. Louis Rams offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer for the same position. Surging salaries for assistants in major college football makes the transition from pro to college more understandable. Sixteen college football assistants last year made at least $800,000 a year, according to USA Today. http://blogs.theadvocate.com/tigert...flight-college-coordinators-nfl-coordinators/
could linger? and they dont know who. we are lingering. and we already dont know who. now thats journalism there. george would be proud. this is an article about nothing.
What do you expect them to write about a search that seems to be wandering around in the desert lost longer than Moses?
well the article said they think its going to linger. so i suggest they just not write about it until they have something new.
I have a couple thoughts about this "lingering" DC search .... #1 It's a top-flight job with a top-notch salary. Les will leave the DC alone to construct the D, and our school attracts blue-chip talent....as evidenced by the numbers of players we've sent to the NFL over the last bunch of yrs. #2 It appears Les is being extremely thorough in his search. At this point, it's obvious to me there are/were candidates that are still playing games (playoffs) and he's had to wait to speak with them. #3 Maybe Les hasn't found his guy yet (at least as of Fri/Sat). I'm willing to bet he has a pretty good idea of what he's looking for in terms of scheme, personality, recruiting, and fit for the program. #4 Our fanbase really cracks me up.... if Les had hired someone 2-3 days following Chavis' departure, many would have said Les rushed the decision. So I'm just going to sit back and let it happen. I feel 90% sure Les will bring in someone that will do a really good job for LSU. There's no point in me stressing out about it. I'd rather Les take his time and get the right guy.
