I heard a comedian (forget which one) say awhile back that everyone always loves the music they were listening to when they first started getting laid. That got me thinking about my high school era and realized that I liked it more than originally thought. I think it has more to do with high school kids generally interested in new music rather than the comedian's suggestion although maybe it's a little of both.
my last year in high school (1998) some of the what I call greatest albums of my generation were released that year. Yield- Pearl Jam My Homies - Scarface Still Standing - Goodie Mob Capital Punishment - Big Pun Before These Crowded Streets-Dave Matthews Band Its Dark and Hell is Hot- DMX before the crack got him Live at the Jazz Cafe-D'Angelo Live & Rare - Rage Against the Machine -first time I ever listened to a song by these guys, blew me away. System of a Down The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill- Lauryn Hill- greatest album of the decade imo Vol 2 Hard Knock Life- Jay-Z Aquemni- Outkast my favorite thats just to name a few.
Wow, I am out of the loop. The ones I left in your quote are the only names on that list that I have heard of. I still don't know DMX, Jay-Z, or RAtM's music, I have just heard the names. Damn I'm getting old.
your not missing anything as of right now with those names, but the albums i posted are worth a listen.
DMX- Rap dude, I actually like his stuff. "you know who gon find you, some old man fishin" lol, love that line Jay-Z not real big on him but has some good stuff as well, and he is banging beyonce Rage- bunch of pissed off indians, Tom Morello is amazing on guitar, he has been doing a lot of stuff with Springsteen, not sure why.
