Saints backup QB McPherson taken out by the Titans mascot who ran over him in a golf cart!!!!!!! Will the football Gods ever smile on New Orleans? http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/3607612.html
I think this means the Gods ARE shining on them... 1. In the past, this would have happened to Brees or Bush 2. McPherson was known to be a bad influence before, and payton was likely to cut him anyway 3. No matter how good he was, Saints fans wouldn't have liked him, b/c of his complexion
Unless you mean the guy has acne, this is complete nonsense. Now, I realize you were only about 13 when Brooks led the team to their first playoff win in history, but the fans were certainly high on him then. Implying that his decline in popularity since then was in any way connected to race is oblivious. This is as much of a stretch as the Bonds issue being tied to race. Get real.
you're the one oblivious... Saints fans never wanted Aaron on the field in the 1st place... they always wanted their white-boy, Jake and as soon as Jake left, they turned on Brooks
playing the race card, sad Brooks simply sucked. Watching him play in these early pre-season games for the Raiders only substantiates the fact that he sucks.
Damn boy lay off the Reverend's speeches or something. Brooks took over when Jeff Blake (who is also black) got injured. Even if they didn't want Brooks, it's fair to say they liked him once he started playing. It's his ensuing decline in performance and attitude that caused them to 'turn on him.'
Did you actually watch any football that post season? He threw for over 300 yards, 3 TDs, and no picks against a defense that consitently makes Peyton look like a high school waterboy. Since he left, he's gone to a Super Bowl, and was a few seconds away from being MVP, plus went back to the playoffs again. What has Brooks done? Nothing. Then he smiled about it. Get over it, Brooks has all the physical tools to be a big time QB, but he doesn't have the drive to be one.
Jake played a great game in the Superbowl but his defense carried him to that game... his performance in the NFC Championship game wasn't stunning... He IS better than Brooks, but is and was also in a better situation. Give Aaron Steve Smith, Julius Peppers, etc... and I'm sure he would have made the playoffs too, especially considering he DID with the saints Edit: If Jake played very well in the entire playoffs, I appologize... I may have fogged memory
one thing none of you Brooks haters can ever deny is that he is the only QB in the entire history of the franchise to win a playoff game...
