Man I have a big mouth!!! Loose lips sink ships!!! *I hide myself in shame* I hope and pray that we are alive tommorrow!!! I hope the terrorists don't read this forum!!! Oh man, what have I done?!?!?! What have I done?!?!?!?!
That's a cool one... you can see pictures of it here: Bunker Slideshow There are pictures of the entrances, underground tunnels/hallways, the bunk beds, the power plant, one of the lounges, a communications room, the main hall for Congress to convene, meeting rooms for Congressional subcommittees, etc
Either way this picture belongs here. I did find it interesting that the media dinner where this occurred has almost always included the President. Obama was the first to send regrets since Grover Cleveland in 1885. But he did make it to South Bend.
I posted the most detailed article, sorry the Huffington Post missed this story. Your CNN story which quotes Cheney, mentions a bunker under the White House, it make no statement of a bunker under the Naval Observatory. Not the same thing. some interesting looking bunkers, All of those are cold war bunkers, I have no doubt that they are de-classified. I would be the guess (bet) the new bunker (layout and designs) underneath the Naval Observatory is classified. I do like the link to an article talking about a link to an article.
What makes you imagine that the vice President's bunker is new? Do you think he did not require any protection during the Cold War?
First of all, the Fox News article said: "Biden told his dinnermates about the existence of a secret bunker under the old U.S. Naval Observatory, which is now the home of the vice president. Also, many people know that: The White House is the home of the US President and his family. The US President also works there. The US President lives and works in the same place. As for the US Vice President, he works at the White House, but he and his family don't live in the White House. Instead, they live in a Victorian/Queen Anne-style mansion three miles away from the White House. This mansion has been the residence for every US VP and his family for the last three decades (since the 1970's, beginning with Mondale). This mansion is located on Massachusetts Avenue, along a row of mansion after mansion after mansion, hence the nickname "Millionaires' Row." Some of these mansions became embassies for foreign countries, hence the other nickname, "Embassy Row." Within a block or two of the US VP's mansion, you have the embassies of Vatican City, Norway, Finland, Kazakhstan, etc. Yes, like the UK embassy (the first embassy on Embassy Row), the New Zealand Embassy, the Norway Embassy, etc, the US VP's mansion is located on the grounds of the old US Naval Observatory (the modern US Naval Observatory is in Arizona). In fact, the VP's residence was originally (starting in the late 1800's) the home of the superintendent of the old Naval Observatory and it later (starting in the early 1900's) was the home of the U.S. Navy's Chief of Naval Operations, then known as "Admiral's House." Cheney "blabbing" about the existence of a bunker under the White House (home of the US President and his family, office of the US President, office of the US Vice President, etc, etc) is no different than Biden "blabbing" about the existence of a bunker under the Vice President's house (home of the US Vice President and his family). The home of the US Vice President and his family, located on the southeast corner of 34th Street and Massachusetts Avenue. The old Naval Observatory is located about 200-300 yards behind it.
