The PACT Bill would provide expanded health coverage for veterans who were exposed to burn pits and Agent Orange; and create an interagency Toxic Exposure Research Working Group to plan and increase federally backed research on toxic exposure. Just a few weeks ago they voted for it. Now they've changed their minds. Why the new opposition to helping our veterans? Let's let a Republican from the House explain the Republican Senators' opposition, because those Senators are apparently too chickenshit to face the press themselves: "The bill spends about $285 billion that we don't have. ... We are destroying the republic that these men and women sacrifice for ... We do a disservice to the military that we say that we support when we are not spending money that we actually have, as opposed to printing money and borrowing money. ... These are real concerns that we ought to address, but fundamentally, you have to pay for that which we are spending." I’m a vet. The country owes every vet. Our government has never had its vets backs and disposes of them ASAP. I had 2 brothers come home dead from ‘Nam. I say dead because they had no way of knowing how fucked up they were. Both lived until 1 was 60 and died from mesothelioma, several rounds of cancer got the other from Agent Orange. They could trim the trillion dollar war budget and take care of their own for a fucking change.
