None of us knew how accurate of a passer Flynn would be or how well he could read defenses. We simply didn't have enough evidence to say one way or the other. What we knew is that he could escape pressure and make something happen by running. It's pretty clear that his ankle injury has taken away his ability to escape pressure. Our OL has struggled all year to pass protect, but with a sitting duck a QB, it only makes it worse. I'd say half the sacks by Tulane would not have happened with a healthy Flynn.

I agree with NLMD about Flynn throwing into coverage. That has nothing to do with his ankle injury and is a real concern. I'd like to think is inaccuracy is due to the ankle, but I'm not sure about that, either. Our OL need to do a much better job against Florida and Flynn needs to be healthy enough to scramble. If not, he may take a serious beating.

When Matt Flynn loses a game (which has never happened) I'll start to worry.

I think throwing into coverage is a growing pain that most QB's face at one time or another; that would and hopefully should go down with increasing experience and mental toughness, like trying to force a play in while playing under adversity. I don't think that any fan would not think that Flynn is a quality QB; it seems to me that the expectations are a bit too high, considering the fact that this season is his first as a real starter, and having only played a in a handful of games in the past 4 years! I can still remember the painful experience with JR's interceptions, but that was when the expectations on the team was not that sky high.

I'm not so sure. When you've got an injury and you're getting pounded on, your decision making is likely going to be affected. Add the penalties that kept pushing us back and you get exactly what we got in the first half. Clusterf... I'd argue that his injury played some part in his poor decision making, kind of an extension of your argument that half the sacks were probably related to his injury.

Agreed, thought the same thing myself. I think this is what CLM meant when he said the opportunity didn't present itself for RP in the first half.

Gotsta agree with this cat......no way we should play RP more than Flynn at this point. A soph with no 'pressure' experience surely will lose a game or two this year. Please keep starting Flynn as long as he is able to play.

I don't think that anyone on this thread has disagreed with that statement.
The key words being 'starting' , yes he should definetly start, and 'able to play' , that seems to be in question. His ability to play effectively right now seems to be hampered.
