I completely agree that being critical of poor play is more than reasonable. However all you have to do is look at the game day thread to see the calls for RP throughout this game, and others. As far as resembling play of a #1 or #2 team, you can visit a USC board to see how they like to cut up their qb as well. For that matter, you can watch the qb play of 20+ NFL teams and draw the same conclusions, depending on which week it is.

I loved Russell's play but he jeopardized us quite a bit by his style of play. I have yet to see Flynn do this, though I cannot say the same thing about the other ten guys on the field with him.

that's my point though. It's willfully ignoring the multiple times that Flynn has thrown into double coverage or directly at defenders. It's not in the stat sheets because the defenders can't catch. That's all I'm saying. JR was high risk, high reward. Flynn has been high risk, low reward (at least with the bad ankle.)

I think most folks (myself included) wanted RP in because Tulane was teeing off on an immobile QB, and Flynn had the yips. Not as Flynn's replacement for the season. At least that's what I think/hope. :thumb:

So do I. I saw something on a rival board a couple of weeks ago and I wish we'd do it here. Have one thread for pissing and moaning about what went wrong and how the coaches screwed up and by Tuesday it's gone and on to the next game. Maybe I'll start a poll.

Sometimes imo ppl have this sentimental thing for Flynn because he has been here for all these years and hasnt complain which i believe he is a Great QB, is the starting QB, great person and etc. but if he is not healthy and hurting the team then RP should be in untill he is healthy. Nobody wants a QB controversy we just want the QB that is going to give us the best chance to reach our goals of winning.

Stat sheets also don't reflect how many passes our WR corp is dropping every game.

Your explanation sounds entirely reasonable, though I am unsure how many other people were coming from such a rational basis. I tend to think that Flynn will get better with each start, and holding him out until the Florida game seemed to be something the coaches did not want to risk. The timing between the qb and wr is a frangible skill and expecting him to sit for two weeks and then perform vs the gators probably would not have worked. As it turned out, he settled down just fine and hit his stride. Replacing him for his early performance, especially when everyone else was playing much worse, could have seriously damaged his confidence for the gators. I guess next week will tell. Hopefully the line takes care of him.

Not that I'm saying I think it should happen, but it is much more rational this year for folks to be calling for the backup than it was last year.

JR was never in question that he was the best player at the position.

Flynn however, is hurt, making worse decisions than JR ever thought about making, and his injury changes the way the offense can be called. Take that and the fact RP has not shown anything but upside ON THE FIELD, and I think a valid argument can be made.

Miles and Co. sold out already though. And their decision may force the quarterback change now if Flynn can't heal up and get it back together.

I was the same way. I don't want Perriloux to start the rest of the season but I thought that he should've been allowed to come in for a series or two in the first half just for a change of pace. Not to replace Flynn permanently.

Not disagreeing but I would guess that Miles didn't want RP in the shadow of the endzone. Tulane was giving us enough trouble early without a turnover caused by inexperience occurring deep in LSU territory.

I think most of us think Flynn is seriously hampered by his injury. I think while Flynn is obviously less than 100%, Perrilloux should maybe be given a chance. There may be other factors playing into which QB is playing, and Flynn's experience can't be understated, but he hasn't looked great since (and because of) the injury.
