Like I also said I did not read all the post, I do remember a couple of weeks ago RP people wanting Flynns head on a pike.

And I am not saying that RP does not have those skills, and its not so much physical skills when it comes to the position. The way the team reacts, listens and respects the person excuting the plays, I personally do not feel that RP is ready to step into that role and I also do not think the team as a whole is ready to have him step into that role.

While I do agree that Flynn should have NO way even Dressed for this game and RP should have gotten the nod, I do trust Miles judgement and like my first post, I really think Flynn is making more of this injury then there is, I just cant see Miles purposely making an injuried player play when he have a great backup.

To me and this is just my opinion, the coaching staff and the doctors have gotten together and they feel that this is more of a mental issue with Flynn and one that he needs to get over.

He's not any worse than a banged up Flynn. But maybe his attitude isn't what it should be.

We couldn't get into a rhythm in the first half. Penalties and sacks kept us in long distance/down so we couldn't get the running game going. Flynn's passing game is not too hot right now, plus he can't run. Even if Perrilloux's passing game is merely even with Flynn's, at least he can run. Our offensive production depends on being able to run the ball.

Running against Florida won't be a piece of cake. I hope we come to play.

the coaching staff is clearly favoring Flynn for whatever reason. Don't know all the details. BUT I think Matt can see us through, if he can step it up a bit. I think the injury maybe hampering his play even though he is listed as 100%....

I think Miles IS trying to get RP in the mix. Just not enough IMHO. Especially while FLynn was gimpy. I would have played RP more...simply because of his better mobility.

CLM did play him a full game though. So its not like he isnt doing it at all, maybe just not enough for some of us arm chair QB's :hihi:

And yeah I think RP was pretty "cold" when he threw those balls.
And I think if Flynn is healthy, he can do wonderful things.

SO why the over throws underthrows etc...

ALL this has MORE to do with PROTECTION than it does MF or RP.
GIVEN a+ offensive Line play I thing EITHER of those guys can work wonders.

FOR some unknown reason our O line was letting Tulane get to Matt. that is goning to hurt you no matter WHO the signal caller is.

If he passed for 400 yards a game and he had a bad game being 385 yards, you would still down the guy. He is doing fine! We haven't lost a game! What more can you ask for. I find that LSU fans aren't satisfied with a win anymore. They want blood. I was just happy that we had another win. Think about it. Think about how you would play your grandmother. How can you come out and smash her face. You can't! Same scenario as Tulane.

    WOW, expectation sure have changed.

Matt Flynn passes for a CAREER HIGH 258 yards, and then gets blistered on this board.

Sure, he had a bad first half. So did Herman Johnson, who kept moving early. So did Carnel Stewart who committed the hold for the safety. So did the rest of the offense, who admitted they were looking forward to UF. The errors kept feeding off themselves. The offense didn't get a rhythm until after the half.

RP is an important part of this team, as evidenced by his play in the second half. But that role is as a member of a 2 QB system, not generating a QB controversy that this team does not want.

I've seen a couple of posts on other boards that indicated RP did something that warranted him not playing in the first half.
For example: "It's not a big deal but he was on the bench in the first half and he knew he was going to be on the bench for the first half."

If those rumors are true it makes it clear why you wouldn't depend on him to lead this team.
We are AP #1 so Flynn is making some good decisions. I hope RP is available when we need him, he has tons of talent.

The biggest asset Flynn brings to the table other than experience is his likelihood of protecting the ball and making good desicisions. Flynn is a gamer. We all know that. Just think if we didn't have Russell for some reason and Flynn had to start last season. Just think how great Flynn would be this year. Experience is one thing, I understand that you still have to perform.

Right now the coaching staff knows that this season depends on Flynn. His confidence is being obliterated by the second. You have to show faith in the guy. Once he gets over any mental or physical hurdles, you guys will forget RP until he comes in for a Tebow-like design play.

Of course this is the offense we all envisioned after the V-Tech game, just didn't think it would take this long to get there.

I keep hearing this, but I can't reconcile it with his in-game performance thus far. Ankle injury does not cause a QB to misread a defense and throw to defenders and double coverage with some regularity.

No two ways about it, that's troubling. It's not like we have a bunch of games by which to evaluate his abilities and determine he's a brilliant decision-maker.

Just as this board did last year, it continues to be filled with people hen pecking the starting QB in favor of the most popular player on any team, the backup QB.

The only thing different from last year is that our Oline has mailed it in a couple of times and caused our QB to get the crap knocked out of him. Add to that a completely new WR corp that obviously is less effective at getting separation that who we had last year, you should not be surprised if Matt's timing is not perfect on every pass. Also plenty of passes that were dead strikes after taking a big hit, but nobody mentions that. Also questions about why Flynn isn't being replaced without considering that perhaps he needs the snaps in preparation for Fla next week. Our QB is undefeated in starts guys, can't you give him a chance? We are blessed to have this much talent and a coaching staff that just might know how to use it.

    It boggles the mind.

You'll find fewer than 10 people advocating replacing him (unlike last year, when the idiots and/or racists here were convinced that Flynn was the smarter QB because he understood coverages..ahem.) If those were the kinds of snaps that he needed, we're in for a long game against Florida.

There's nothing wrong with watching a game and being mindful that certain aspects of the game do not resemble that of a #1 or #2 team.
