isnt it weird the yankees that came through the farm system cant speak english.

and all titles are bought, even in college. thats the gm's/a.d.'s job.

dont kid yourself. money matters most relative to wins. it brings the talent. not always results in championships but you arent going far w/o it.

Not always (Tampa Bay) but usually. The Cubs have the 3rd largest payroll in MLB and can't win anything. Mets are #2 and feature a bunch of high priced choke artists. Money gets the players but you've still got to get them to perform and execute.

hell don't forget the Marlins won 2 world series also with a small payroll. Sometimes you just get those great farm players, diamonds in the rough. It doesn't happen very often but it does happen.

So who will sell their soul to the yanks in the off season?

Seems like common sense to me. Some just aren't getting it.

actually, only 1 of those was with a small payroll.

the 1st one was bought. Huizenga (sp?) said as much himself.
went out and got all the best players available, won a title, then dumped them all the next off season.

Carl Crawford, as a replacement for Hideki, and Roy Halladay (I think he's a free agent). They may look for some older guy for DH. Matsui will go to Seattle and Damon stick around.

Not soul selling. It's an honor to wear the pinstripes if you're a playa. Pedro would jump at the chance.

    Count me in that number.
it seems that everyone in louisiana either likes the yankees or red sox. not sure why we have to choose a side, but it seems like everyone has. I became a red sox fan in 75 when watching fred lynn make those great catches in centerfield. i remember saying "wow, that dude plays like me." so i started following him and became a sox fan, so i have to hate the yankees.

In Cecilia you are either a Yankee fan or a Red Sox Fan. Did you ever hang out at Jun's Texaco back in the day?

Halladay has another year on his current deal.
That's why they thought they could get more for him this past season.

Matsui likely going back to Japan to be a God.
    Damon to DH next year.

can't blame any players for going to the Bronx.

they pay better than anyone else, have a loyal fanbase, and always a chance to win titles.

Yanks winning should ratchet up the off season activity in Boston now.
Theo was getting complacent and thinking the Yanks weren't gonna catch him again.

Well, the Yanks are back, so the Sox/Yanks rivalry will be shifting back into high gear in the upcoming weeks/months.
