We've moved away from the run-based spread that really put us on the map in recent years. With Geno Smith, we might actually be leaning to a more pass first offense. He's only a sophomore, but he might be the best passer we've had since Marc Bulger. Fantastic poise, and throws a beautiful, accurate ball. I assume you all know about Devine and likely Jock Sanders, but I can promise you, the name you won't forget after this game is Tavon Austin. He's as fast as Devine, and one of the shiftiest players I've ever seen. So far, he's been Geno's favorite receiver, and look for a lot of balls to be thrown his way. Stedman Bailey has emerged as our third receiver, and he has just caught everything thrown his way.

On defense, we run the unconventional 3-3-5, and the two players you should look out for the most are our 6-5 Safety, Robert Sands, and Bruce Irvin, a hybrid DE/OLB who looked damn near unblockable at times against UMD, and had 3 of our 8 sacks, and a ton of hurries. He was all over the place.

interesting. this is what worries me the most because JJ isn't the best at reading defenses. though, i'll admit, he's getting better. i just hope the coaching staff comes up with a golden game plan that tries to attack on some of WVU's "weaknesses" -- supposedly their secondary is one of them. i think with three games to look at, the coaches know a little better of what to expect from our guys and we can start to see the offense come together more cohesively.

if i can go off on a tangent here, i'd like to say that as much as i appreciate Blue, i don't think he's ready to play SEC football, and i'd rather him sit on the bench a bit longer -- i thought this even before his fumble tonight. i would like to see ford, because i think we need a bruiser back to come in when ridley goes out, but i don't think blue is physical enough to be that type of back.

Jay B ..I have to disagree about Blue, other than the fumble,he has looked good out there running the ball.I want to see Ford and Ware more ,but Ridley has done better than all of them.

I brought 2 VT fans down for that game. They could not stop talking about how gracious and welcoming LSU fans are. Obviously they were disappointed by the lopsided loss for Hokies, but I remember one of my guests commenting that no LSU fan rubbed it in their face after the game.

Fans in Morgantown literally "dish it out". Fans from other teams can expect being spit on, pelted by beer, have the windows in their cars smashed, their cars keyed, and even being punched...all for the crime of supporting your team in their stadium.

I know people who are graduates of WVU that just laugh at that kind of classless behavior.

well the o line is doing a better job this season. blue will be a GREAT rb at LSU, i just don't think it's the time to be using him. ford is the guy we need to spell ridley. i'll live with whatever the coaches decide, but i'd have ford in there. i don't care if he can't block, because blue doesn't look to be the best blocker either... we just need ford's size, IMO, to not let off the pain when ridley steps out.

I legit have gone to every home game here in MoTown for the last five years and never seen any thing like that. I feel like our bark is way worse then our bite, the worst behavior I've seen is verbal harassment from students of the vulgar kind which can be avoided if you just avoid the side of the stadium the students tailgate on. I do enjoy your ridiculous portrayal of Morgantown game day though, I'm waiting for the part where we rape and pillage. In all honesty last year I went to Auburn it was fantastic but all I heard the entire trip was how awful LSU fans were. A family told me they were at a baseball game once and a man poured an entire beer on their kids, someone else told me to expect to have bags of piss thrown on me if I made the trip. I kind of laughed it off b/c I know how these reputations work, one guy has a rough trip and then to make it seem like he's not that much of a little girl he adds a little flare to his story. The reason your WVU graduate friends are laughing is because they know how ridiculous these stories are.

For the record before you continue...

There aren't any rocks or overpasses by our stadium.
No one was ever pushed over in a portable toilet.
No one pooped in the Georgia Tech band section at the Gator Bowl 3 years ago (although I kind of wish this was true for the hilarity of the story)
The only violence I've ever seen is opposing team fans trying to sit in the student section and then waving their signs or flags or whatever, getting pelted with empty water bottles. (I bet that would happen anywhere)
Our fans don't have the cleanest mouths so I'll give you that, you'll here some pretty vulgar stuff here (which bothers a good portion of the real fans but hey it only takes a few to make the rest look like idiots)

2 years ago when I heard we signed a contract with LSU I heard that LSU was the only fanbase as "rabid" as us. In fact there was a hilarious article with a guy comparing the converging of the fan bases to one of the signs of the apocalypse, I would have thought LSU of all schools would understand how our rival teams love to kick us after they lose to use by painting us as rabid yokels. Sour grapes is something I'm sure both fan bases are familiar with as it's what our rival teams munch on all year.

Welcome to the best LSU board around. The others boards have way too many *******s that think their job is to cuss you as much as they can in one sentence. Most of these guys here are pretty cool and will talk football instead of berating opposing fans....well as long as you remember you are a guest here. I find it funny that some opposing fans come in, start confrontations and then complain about it. I wouldn't walk into an opposing fans house and start crap...I just wonder why some do that...I guess it's the anonymity of the internet. Thanks for coming in and being a gracious visitor.

A lot of our fans fail to realize that this team is going to run the ball 1st and passing is secondary. If we get a solid run game going, the pass is used to keep the defenses honest. If you see us passing more than 40% it means you are doing well and we are playing catch-up. We have a some horses at running back. You might see one for an entire series or 4 in 4 plays. A lot of guys would like to see Ford get some action but it's obvious that the ones getting touches are the ones getting it done in practice. It's possible he may not be ready to see the field yet.

Blue is a surprise getting time and a true freshman. Miles is usually a veteran leaning coach. There are 9 1st time starters on both sides of the ball. It's a young team that looks as though they are coming together quite nicely.

I can't say enough about our defense. While North Carolina had 400+ yards against us, 170 of that was on two big plays. Chalk that up to 1st game jitters and the number of 1st timers on the "D". They have 3 games now and have gotten immensely better each game.

As far as game day I don't think you will find a better atmosphere. As noted get there early and take it all in. The team comes "down the hill" around 2 hours before game time and the band along with "Mike the Tiger" follows soon after. The WVU game will be packed...and loud.

Hello Tiger nation. Im looking forward to this weeks game. I believe its ganna be a close one. Both teams have had their question marks and both are still not completely polished.

WVU biggest issue is not the o-line( it is an issue though) but rather turnovers wvu has had 8 in the first three games on miscues.

One that LSU must know when playing WVU is that they play to their opponent. Look for WVU to come out of the game hyped up and strong. UGA and Okie found that out in the bowl games and Auburn saw it last year, It looked like a blow out until WVU got the turnover bug. 5 turnovers lost the game for wvu.

I know that LSU's offence has not looked great and i think this will be a Defensive game, as both wvu and lsu D are the teams strong points.
