but when it happens elsewhere people consider them to be awful people. If it happens here..Oh, it happens everywhere so its ok....I'm saying basically the same thing as saltyone and no one says anything about what he said. These guys are above the law.
It's all about who you know .... you should understand that. Salty is pissed at the DA for dropping the charges. You attacked LSU, as usual.
None of you know any of the facts here, but are making assumptions. The FACT here is that he did not get off. All that happened is that they dropped the FELONY drug charges, because the FELONY drug charges were weak and baseless and would not stand in any court. He did not have the quantity to qualify as a felony, and the intent to distribute charge was baseless based on the fact that the second baggy they found contained a miniscule amount (about 1 joint's worth. That is NOT distribution sized quantity). Don't forget, the total amount of weed he had in the car was less than 1 oz. For you non-smokers, that is not much at all. The Felony charges were BS in the first place. This would have gotten laughed out of court.
But the deputies WERE wrong to charge intent to distribute for 1.5 grams. That's why they have to drop the felony and look like jackasses. These deputies were trying to nail this guy for a felony when in reality it was only a misdemeanor. They weren't just "doing there job", they were trying to increase the seriousness of the charge by intentional disposal of common sense. The deputy shouldn't even bother if this is the type of crap he pulls on other people. He should be reprimanded for misconduct. This is the equivalent of taking someone to jail for going 5 miles above the speed limit. Ticky-tacky.
how dare you say something like this... pretending like you were actually there or something... that is ridiculous...
I hope not. If I had been arrested on the same charges, it would have been reduced to Possession of Marijuana and I would have been put on supervised probation. He got a big break. I hope he learns from it.
That's exactly what is propbably going to happen to Claude as well. The only break he got was that the DA was able to see through the BS presented to him by the arresting officers. Felony Distribution for less than 1oz? What a joke.
http://www.thenewsstar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060209/NEWS01/602090320/1002 In the above article it seems that the DA has dropped a lot of charges made by the Sterlington Police. 68 out of 77 cases have been declined. So charges weren't dropped because of who he was IMO.
I think Dandy Don was the source of this, but I don't know what his source was (there was nothing about it in today's newspaper), but as I recall Wroten had less than an ounce on his person, but several bags in his car. Dandy Don indicated the charges were dropped - not reduced. If you have different information on that, please give your source. If it is true that the charge was reduced, I have no problem with that. As a general rule, a first offense for Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute (a felony offense) is usually reduced to Simple Possession of Marijuana (a misdeamenor) and the offender is placed on supervised probation for up to two years.
Duh. You didn't learn that when he oversaw the Cowboys in their scandalous days? Lesson learned by law enforcement: don't trump-up charges; stick to enforcing the law, rather than trying to create it.
