He's 6'4", 200, runs a 4.55. Early in the process he claimed distance as a possible factor but that has changed a bit since his offers have increased (he's up to 21). He was born and grew up in the Palo Alto area and likes Cali (furd in particular) but currently claims no Pac10 offers. He REALLY liked his visit to TA&M, has only one camp (Texas) scheduled so far for this summer, and academics are a BIG factor for him. When/if he makes it to LSU, it will need to be an off the hook visit IMO based on everything I read.
It looks like Melvin Ray may be favoring LSU now. Rivals lists LSU as his only school with high interest. It looks like it come down between Florida St & LSU. I'd love to get him as he's a nice mix in between Tolliver & DeAndre Brown. Anybody know about his grade situation? I wonder how many WRs we'll take in this class with Tolliver & Brown questionable for qualifying. Also since Benton didn't qualify this year he may come in with this class.
FSU is going to sign a stellar group of WRs like LSU. It may come down to be a numbers game with Ray.
Rivals is reporting that Ray says its down to UF and FSU....late in the article Ray says you can throw LSU in his top 3.
FWIW, and I may be off a year on this, I believe this will make the 3rd class the sliding scale has been used with. Here's a link to the pdf file... www.ncaa.org/databases/reports/1/199810bd/199810_di_bd_agenda_s04c_d.pdf - Oh, and Parso...it's my understanding the visit I talked about a few days ago with Tolliver in T-town went very, very well. Scout has an interview up with him...haven't had a chance to read it year.
Now that EJ has commited to FSU, Melvin will probably follow. Doesn't really matter, Chris Tolliver and DeAndre Brown >>>>> Melvin Ray :geauxtige
I just read where Surrency will visit LSU officially for the Florida game. He says that he's still committed to Colorado, but "wide open". It will be interesting to see what he looks like this year because, I didn't realize it, but last year was his first year playing organized football... that's scary. I still think we only go hard after the JUCO WRs if our young WRs don't show enough development this year, which is a real possibility.
