Or Florida got lucky at home against the Vols and the real Gators showed up at Bama. No disrespect to the Tide but: "We heard their signals," said Alabama linebacker DeMeco Ryans. "We're college students. You can't just keep calling the same signals over and over again." The magic of Meyer is solved.
I'm not certain if it says more about how good Bama is or more about how overmatched Meyer's system is against good defenses. Bama certainly played some inspired football, prolly their best game in many years. And Prothro definitely impressed me. Without him though, Bama is unlikely to be the same team, IMO. Once UF fell behind, it was all Joe Kines needed to unleash the D. Big win for the Bama program.
Coaching changes and new systems aren't hurting Florida and Notre Dame. New Coaches that aren't proven and new systems that are weak is what handicap teams their first year. Granted we will see how other good SEC teams will handle UF offense, but the team has played well. They did beat UT, we didn't. LSU is not going to the SEC CG. Bama is playing really well and if they stay healthy, they will probably beat LSU. Florida's offense will give Pelini fits and our offense will have to play extremely well to counter their defense. The offense needs to use more play action, do 3 step drops with JR and drill a WR and let their speed and talent pick up the first. Bait them with these drops numerous times then throw a couple of long balls, to keep the safety and db's honest then go back to the quick passes. Also Auburn appears to be playing much better and they will be ready to play. There is no way we beat all the remaining on the schedule.
