Bear Bryant he ain't, you boys are too young. When he beats THAT record I'll sit up and take notice. You saw Spurrier win a few in tiger Stadium and you think he's a God. he couldn't tote Saban or even Stoopsey's lunch pail. mark it down , we'll see but mark my words.
you better check the records Spurrier holds there sherlock. I said RECORD not that he was bear. try reading, thanks. try researching as well.
Absolutely! Spurrier is one of the top 5 college coaches of all time. He went into Florida and started dominating from the get go and I have no doubt he can still do that. I had no problem with the way he used to run up scores cause that showed a killer instinct that so many coaches lack. If more coaches had that killer instinct then maybe there wouldn't be so many comeback wins. I am totally for running up the score and making sure there is no way your opponent comes back. I would welcome Spurrier with open arms, as if that isn't already obvious enough. :thumb:
I have to disagree with you, JSracing. Spurrier's dominance from the get go is mind blowing. He jumped right into the SEC and blew opponents out from year one. Here's how he faired over his 12 year run.... 1990...9-2 1991...10-2 (SEC champs) 1992...9-4 1993...11-2 (SEC champs) 1994...10-2 (SEC champs) 1995...12-1 (SEC champs) 1996...12-1 (SEC and National champs) 1997...10-2 1998...10-2 1999...9-4 2000...10-3 (SEC champs) 2001...10-2 ...and as we all know, these weren't just wins, they were blowouts. It amazed me how he could blowout just about everyone he played. How many coaches can claim that. BTW, Bear Bryant wasn't even as immediately successful. His first three years he went 5-4...7-2...and...8-1. In fact if you take Bryant's first twelve years, ther isn't much difference between Spurrier's twelve year run. Spurrier....122-27 Bryant......102-22
lets just imagine if spurrier had stoops as d coordinator his entire stay at florida or even the last years there. he could have had more n.c. titles if he wouldn't have had to find new d coordinators. if he goes back to florida he'll have them back at the top of the east in one to two years.
It's so easy for these people to say they wouldn't take Spurrier, because Saban is still head coach. But ask them again when Saban is gone, and they would be salivating at the chance to get him. I, for one, did not like him when he was at Florida. Hated his overly arrogant ways. But I respected him for the winner he was. I would want nothing less as head coach at LSU.
they had a 10 year SEC dominance. that is true BUT How many NC's does he have compared to Paul bear Bryant? How many SEC championships? Steve Spurrier couldnt carry the Bear's jock strap. gimme a f*ckin break Look it up you say read???? here let me help YOU read. sheesh. Bama NC's under the Bear. 1961 1964 1965 1973 1978 1979 Steve Spurrier = 1 thats the money boys. LOL sit down. Bear coached at 4 colleges over 38 years; directed Alabama to 6 national titles (1961,64-65, 1973, 78-79); retired in 1982 as the winningest coach of all time (323-85-17 record), since passed by Penn State's Joe Paterno and Florida State's Bobby Bowden; 15 bowl wins, including 8 Sugar Bowls. Spurrier ain't even close. :dis: now if you look at Florida's overall record, ( not just spurrier ) it gets even weaker. They are number 6 in the SEc while Bama is ranked 1st and LSU right behind them. SEC rankings overall
