When LSU played Florida, there were 2 plays that essentially lost it. 1. Tebow's illegal "jump pass." That play is almost never run. The reason...you can't have O-lineman downfield, and 2. Russell's fumble at the goal line. If we don't hand it to Fl. It's over at half time. I actually agree with Meyer with regard to the BCS. I just can't stand his presentation.
The fumbled punt after the 3 and out was big too.......we had an opportunity to really flip the field on that one early and possibly score and I felt that was really anitclimatic and the momentum really swung.
Can't argue that LSU isn't more talented, but it's not by a whole lot. And at this point in their careers, the only thing stoping Miles from being in the exact spot Meyer is in now is a few bad calls in the Auburn game.
It's close but not a complete wash and my statement is true. According to rivals, Meyer's two recruiting classes and the commitments he has this year add up to 3.56 stars per player. Miles' two classes and this year's committments add up to 3.64. stars per player. It may be a small advantage, but it ain't invisible.
I believe he refers to illegal downfield blocking by offensive linemen, not an ineligible receiver. It started as a run fake and if there were offensive linemen blocking in the endzone, it would be illegal.
Exactly...thanks. Should have been a penalty. The play would not have counted, by virtue of the fact that it could not stand...illegal. If the lineman stay in the backfield...then it's legal. I mention this play a lot, because I think it might rival the call at Auburn. Still stings.
