I want a football team that is wild and crazy...relentless. I want people to FEAR us. I want to see women and children hiding their faces in disbelief and horror... let 'er rip!
All you LSU fans don't get your hope up about running the score up somebody. less has proven that when he gets a lead, he puts his head up rear and goes conserative. Been there done that.:dis: Just saying don't get your hopes up to high. GO POKES!!:thumb:
That was Oklahoma State. This is LSU. Nick Saban showed what the difference this school can do when the coach leaves an average school.
True, but a coach can still have tendencies. He brings up a valid point. Miles did go conservative once building up a lead at OSU. What's to stop him from doing it here at LSU?
So where did Les Miles slow down in the games? 9/4 @ UCLA (6-6) W 31 20 9/11 vs. Tulsa (4-8) W 38 21 9/18 vs. Southern Methodist (3-8) W 59 7 10/2 vs. *Iowa State (7-5) W 36 7 10/9 @ *Colorado (8-5) W 42 14 10/16 vs. *Texas A&M (7-5) L 20 36 10/23 @ *Missouri (5-6) W 20 17 10/30 vs. *Oklahoma (12-1) L 35 38 11/6 @ *Texas (11-1) L 35 56 11/13 vs. *Baylor (3-8) W 49 21 11/27 @ *Texas Tech (8-4) L 15 31 12/29 vs. Ohio State (8-4) L 7 33 By the looks of things, all of his wins (except Mizz) was by quite a good bit and the losses were just plain losses.
^^^^The scores definitely look that way. I've only watched a few of his games while he was with OSU but I remember that in one of them after the team got a substantial lead he became pretty conservative. I can't remember when or against who though. One of their fans mentioned it and I just remember seeing something that confirmed that a while ago. So I'm not sure.
I say you go all out and try to get up by three scores in the 4th quarter. Then you pull your starters to keep their legs fresh and eliminate injury possibilites. If the reserves happen to score some more points, fine. You never ease up on a SEC team or a Division I contender. But . . . if you're up 45 points on an outclassed OOC team, especially a I-AA team, then you quit passing and stick to a vanilla rushing offense. It would be an insult to them to ease up completely, but it would be poor sportsmanship to humiliate an underdog for kicks. Remember Spurrier in the 90's? He'll always be a prick to many football fans for showing no sportsmanship when running up the score on a beaten opponent.
Precisely why I don't have any respect for that corksoaker. He was the first to cry when somebody tried to bull him (although it didn't happen as often as I'd have liked). Even BBowden is a better sport. I understand a man who wants to win and win big. I respect that. But don't come cryin' when the worm turns and your azz gets taken to the woodshed. That's Spurrier. There isn't an ouce of sportmanship in the man. If you ever get the chance to run it up on Spurrier, you better act like a poor man in a turnip patch and get all you can.
about the SEC teams...does anyone honestly think that they wouldnt do it to us if they had the opportunity? hell no! interesting story though. i used to work with a guy who graduated from LA Tech. dude HATES lsu with a passion...classic, transparent case of penis envy. anyhow, he likes to boast about how miles is 1-1 vs LT. the story with the 1 loss is kind of sad. apparently, OSU had the ball deep in techs territory and time is running down...we're talking like under a minute to go. OSU had a few point lead, and was in a position to simply kneel the ball and let the clock run. well, from what chris told me, he decided to try and run the ball into the end zone one more time. the RB fumbled the ball, a tech defender then picks it up and runs it 90-something yards to the end zone to win the game. so take what you will from that story.
