i agree. i read a book that was basically written, smuggled to be printed by a member (tho i believe distantly) of the saudi royal family. the horrors of how women are treated in that part of the world is just mind boggling to me. stories such as a young girl (maybe around 12-13) who was raped by her brothers friends. she came downstairs late one night looking for her cat not knowing they were there, and she was wearing a nightgown. she was blamed and punished severly for tempting the older boys who raped her because she was in a night gown. nothing happened to them. the book is "princess: a true story of life behind the veil in saudi arabia". it is a fascinating read, tho sometimes quite disturbing.
I find this comment to be particularly assinine and offensive and very much uncalled for. I think most, particularly here, oppose what you're talking about. As for the relationship between Islam and systematic terrorism of women, doesn't this really come down to human failure? I feel pretty strongly that if I were to read the Koran with an open heart and an able mind there would be much wisdom residing in its pages.
Of course you did. Making light of this matter in order to make a particulary cheap political statement suggests that you have some comprehension problems of your own.
I did not make light of the Pakistani atrocity. Typical Democratic response: Ignore the message and attack the messenger.
You made a foolish statement and were roundly bashed for it. Way of the world, amigo. And I'm not a democrat.
