And you could be referring to the NEA, NOW, People for the American Way, the Dixie Chicks, the KKK, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc............ We've seen how dangerous ANY zealot can be, given the right circumstance. It's interesting how the sheep blindly accept that religious kooks cause much trouble but other, "more enlightened", progressive folk are "trying to effect change".

I'm of the belief that people like that generally just use religion in order to get what they want, but there's no doubt that terrible acts have been commited in the name of different Gods.

I like the general theme of what you are saying, but not the comparisons drawn. It's not really fair to lump in the media whore lead singer of the Dixie Chicks with NOW and the KKK.

And to Rex, who apparently missed the memo from the last election, Christians have taken over your adopted state. And all of the states. Oregon, that liberal bastion, voted down the gay marriage thing for christs sake.

    Including Atheism...
You can say religious people are lunatics like anyone else.
It just looks worse because they supposedly believe in god and religion.

Some people might use religion to get what they want but there are plenty
    that don't as well.

Yea, probably including atheism. But I can't remember the last time some group or person declared a holy war killing thousands in the name of there not being a God...
