I think she has some bad blood with LSU in general after her little incident with Pokey last year.

I think Skip needs to take a good look at Starkey at the moment. I say if he can get this team to the Final Four, give him a chance as the head coach.

it's not about that... Starkey dont want to be the coach.

he hates recruiting and dealing with the media. He is a complete X's and O's nerd.

The bad blood had to do with the recruiting of Allison Hightower - apparently some things were said by Pokey during recruiting that Kim disagreed with. Thing about Mulkey that makes her a hard get is she makes $800k at BU right now, which is double what LSU was paying Pokey....and Baylor has the money to pay her more. I think Baylor folks are more worried losing Mulkey to Texas right now then LSU.

I'm watching the Duke - Rutgers game here this afternoon. They laid out the 10 or so women's BB programs in search of head coaches for next year and was talking about opportunities for Duke's coach, Gail Goestenkors. Is she looking to change? This may just be a media ploy if her pay isn't up to par. Anybody heard anything about her?

And, btw, the end of that Duke / Rutgers game was quite remarkable.

Duke missed 2 free throws with .1 secs to lose.

I saw the ESPN pre-game show. Stacy Dules kept saying the Duke coach is the top target of Texas. And she also said LSU had made inquiries about Mulky.

In the post game show ESPN asks the question "Is this the last game Gail coaches at Duke?"

They talk about a coaching merry go round and tumbling effect with all the coaching vacancies open. This will be fun to watch. I hope we get a good one. I'll vote for Mulkey if Skip will fork out the dough. :thumb:

Mulkey would be my preference, but I just don't see it happening.

Van Chancellor is the favorite for our job...

He is the old Ole Miss coach, and Houston Comets coach.

He is a friend of Skip's, and the belief is that his name will land recruits... something we desparately need with 9 seniors next year.
