also in the same classic, Baylor came from 18 behind to beat Georgia by 8....good hoops this weekend all around. Georgia, Baylor, Tech and the Pokies will all be looking for the final four this year.
What was really big about this game was LeBlanc. She was tentative at the start but by the end of the game, she was driving the lane and dishing out some great assists. And the fact that Pokey played her for a full 40 minutes was huge for her confidence... ...GOod first game for the Tigers...lots of room for improvement but they beat a good team and provided fans with some good basketball today.
Watched the majority of the game--including the last 10 minutes of the 2nd half. Nice win for Pokey and the girls in a very difficult road game. I was impressed with Texas Tech. They were visually smaller than us, but they more than held their own. That point guard for TT is good. Heard the say that she roomed with Simone during the summer when both played for Team USA. I was also impressed with the attendance at TT. I don't know if it was because it was the first game, on national TV against the #3 ranked team in the nation, but I didn't see very many empy seats. Would be nice to see that kind of support in the P-MAC this season. Our Lady Tigers deserve it.
LSU is much more physical, it will serve you well during the tourney. The attendance is about normal, the ladies always draw around 12K.
There wasn't too much of a drastic difference other than I noticed that we didn't have someone really penetrate and dish it off like Tameka did. But over-all, I thought that the point guards played well--didn't force too many turnovers and were still effective against a really good TT squad.
WTG Lady Tigers. Very nice win against a good opponent. I really need to attend some of the games this year. I have never been to one.
Fowles had a double-double as well. Don't know what her final stats were, but I remember hearing she had 13 points and 10 boards, and there was still time left on the clock.
