ESPN is reporting that Perrilloux failed a drug test.

ESPNSources: Dismissed LSU QB Perrilloux failed drug test

If true, he has sabotaged his potential professional career. Even if he goes to McNeese or Grambling and gets drafted ala Craig Nall, NFL General Managers are much less forgiving about drug use and troublemaking since Michael Vick's and Ricky Williams scandals. No one is going to risk a high pick and first-round money on a gamble like Perrilloux.

If he has any sense at all, he will find a Division II school in Minnesota or something -- just as far from his brother and the thug crowd of homies that he runs around with. Just like Vick he let his ghetto posse be more important than his academic and professional career.

McNeese won't take him. They weren't going to last summer anyway. Coke heads belong on the street, not the field.

Maybe I'm off base but I like the way Les Miles handled a very difficult situation. I believe he realized that most of RP's problems were a result of immaturity, lack of adult guidance, and star syndrome.

CLM gave him an opportunity to clean up his act and released him when he failed to do it. Some may say it was overdue but his previous issues didn't singularly warrant his removal. Now in totality, they do.

It's a shame to see ANY kid waste an opportunity especially one who possesses so much talent. Hopefully he'll get his act together someday.

Maybe I'm wrong but I don't believe CLM tolerated RP more than other players due to his position and potential.

Some people still don't like the fact we hired CLM so I'm sure they'll use this in an attempt to somehow justify their assertions.

This is still a great program with awesome talent. Today the team's talent may be slightly weaker but respect for class and integrity just rose up the charts. Not to mention any other programs but I can think of a few that probably would have covered this incident up.

make no mistake. les miles tolerated rp more than he did any other player he has ever kicked off for a myriad of reasons.

    here are my guesses:

    1. he was les' first big pull

    2. he made a commitment to rp's mom

    3. he knew he needed this punk to win 11 games or more

    4. rp's dad died and les felt more even responsibility than before

Randy Moss went to Marshall when they were D-II because of a failed drug test while he was at Florida State. I agree that they are a lot less tolerant with these types of offenses now a days, but if Pac Man Jones gets another chance, why wouldn't RP get at least one?

I wonder where he will go now. If he really wants to stick a finger in the "Eye of the Tiger" he will go to Bama. I wonder if Saban would take him. I suspect he would considering the pressure he is facing to win.

because of his immense talent, he's not out of chances yet, some Div. AA team will have him playing ball this fall But he's running out of them, and he's already cost himself money with the NFL, if he's clean from here on out.

I feel the same way. I'm oddly at peace with this, though I would have loved to have seen him as our starting QB if he could've kept himself clean.

he will get a chance at southern or whatever but with the support system LSU had in place, he has zero chance of staying on the field elsewhere to put up any relevant numbers to even be sniffed.

his potential hasnt even been shown to scouts and in order to do that he would have to play a year. without issues.

    not.gonna.happen.
