The reason Saban jumped on Russell was not because he checked out of a run. Saban was ticked that the receiver was wide open and the pass sucked. Saban said Russell never misses that pass in practice. Must be frustrating to Saban. Not much you can do if they can't execute.

He checked out of the run. You don't do that, period. Not the way that they've asked him to play. They've asked him to just sit on it and prove he can operate the offense. They don't want a two touchdowns, two two point conversion + another score type lead, with a quarterback who-with less than 7 minutes in a game-decides to check out into a pass.

If you think that's Saban's philosophy, I have one simple thought for you: You're wrong.

He threw his headset into the air not because of poor execution. We all knew it was just millimeters off. Russell saw the read, made the throw, and it was a-l-m-o-s-t a score. He went apoplectic because the play should never had been audibled into.

You aren't throwing on 3rd down and short in that situation. You sure as HELL don't audible out. This is the exact same problem LSU ran into with JaMarcus, and has been having with Russell the entire season (See the 2nd INT for Florida. I've explained this before, and won't go into it again, for simply being tired of doing it). He would rather allow himself the ability to "make the play" and try to do it himself than just operate the offense. He wants to let his own interests supercede that of both his common sense and the better judgement of his coaching staff.

You telling me that Fisher WANTED that pass thrown into coverage towards the end zone on a third short in that situation? Give me a break.

The reason Saban was upset is that Russell is always looking to call his own number or keep it called, in the face fo obviously adverse situations that call and dictate for him to change the play or keep the play called.

    This was a prime example.

Saban wasn't p!ssed about any type of physical execution. It was a mental mistake, and it was on display for all to see.

TE...very insightful post. Is Jamarcus just a hotdog and selfish? I mean he was kind that way in High School but with the offense they ran it was expected. I just dont understand that a kid like Jamarcus can continue to defy the coaching like this. Maybe that heart to heart he had with Saban just didnt sink in like it should have. :dis:

Your arrogance is humorous. Glad to stick it in your face. The below quotes are from this morning's Times Picayune.

Saban ripped off his headset, then met his freshman quarterback as he headed off the field, greeting him with a tirade. "We've had problems all year getting the ball to our skilled people, Saban said. "JaMarcus would hit that pass in practice every time."

The rest are quotes from me. State your opinion but stop acting like you know everything because you don't. I am sure you will have some BS explanation but you are WRONG. And I love it.

Well, disapointing for sure, but he was coming in green and nobody had ever really seen him play. The biggest dispointment of the season has to be Justin Vincent. He was a proven 1,000-yard rusher and MVP of both championship games. I had him inked in as the next great SEC running back. I hope its just a sophomore slump.

And while were at it, I'm kind of disapointed with the kickers and punters. We are way below SEC standards in this area and I didn't see it coming.

That was me...I usually call in whenver Hanagriff says something idiotic.

He made the statement that, "Alabama's defensive secondary covered the wide receivers like glue, so we didn't really want to pass."

A friend of mine I saw in the SEZ told me that on Thursday, it was intimated to him that the coaching staff has "zero confidence" in the quarterback situation...That doesn't mean we don't have talented skill players on the edge. It means we can't get it to them. That was what prompted my call...But I did cover a few different things during the call. I've heard them cut good callers off, so I wanted to kind of get all my shots in at once.

The lunch money comment was mine, and it's the damn truth. Livings hasn't just been a disappointment. He's been regressive.

So that must mean that when he lauded Skyler Green against UGA at home in '03 for the winning touchdown catch on that "go route" to the endzone when Mauck hit him, that since he was happy that Skyler caught the ball and told the media about it, he must have run the right route?

No...Of course he didn't. Everyone knows that Green ran the wrong route. It turned out okay, but he made a mistake. Sometimes, things get "glossed over" in the name of team unity.

Do you honestly think that what Saban says at the Thursday luncheons for the Gridiron Club members is disseminated by the media? I can tell you that I was relayed what was said in front of those individuals, and he won't EVER make those statements in public, and will in fact speak in terms of being 180 degrees OPPOSITE of those statements.

But, let me ask you this...Was Saban EVER asked whether or not Russell checked into or out of that play? Was he asked if he should have run it in that situation, or what play came in from the sidelines there?

I didn't think so...But I'm glad you're glad to "stick it in my face". My arrogance is well placed, because, as I said before, you are wrong. You don't throw on 3rd down late in a game that you have a big lead in. You especially don't do it and then NOT connect.

I wonder...on the winning touchdown catch against OSU...Was that the right play and route Dwayne Bowe ran? Or was it something that Russell came up with in the huddle?

That's right, the players admitted that was improvised, and that isn't the kind of sh!t that you want out of your players. Two 19 year olds decided that a multi-million dollar coaching staff who'd watched an entire game didn't know best...and they were right...

Do you want to hinge the season in the balance on that type of mentality?

The right play was not called. If you think he was THAT mad because of an incompletion, you're dreaming. But, since you're dreaming of making me wrong or proving me wrong, or whatnot, and you love it so...You can have it.

How does this sound...Okay, you are right? Does that make you feel any better? I hope so...

I'm glad I could make your night. Never knew you tied your happiness and joy to being right or wrong, especially in opposition to me. Speaks well for you.

    :)

No, maybe my remarks were a little strong. It is just your internet "in your face" mentality sometimes gets old. You actually bring up good points many times but the attitude needs work. I just think if you would tone it down a little, you would be a very good poster. So consider it a compliment.
