I can't decide...Because I really dont have a clue what it's like to have 3 big-time QB guys on my team... ...But is it really GOOD that you guys have this "problem"? I mean, isn't somebody's talent really being wasted?
I'm not sure it will depend on which of our three QB's start next year (though personally I like the job MF did in the Peach Bowl), I think it will depend more on filling the holes left in the OL, DL and at linebacker that will be more of a determinate of how we do.:geauxtige
That's Ok, though, because it means one less talent being wasted on the field somewhere like Tuscaloosa or Birmingham.
Any of the three QBs can lead LSU to the top next year if they complete over 60% of their passes and maintain at least a 3-1 TD to INT ratio. Such productivity should be the goal each year, IMO. That being said, I want whomever gets the offense humming most effectively to be the starter, regardless of who it is. I personally cannot believe that there are two other QBs on the roster better than RP, but all that will work itself out in due time this offseason/early next season.
It doesn't matter who starts at QB. LSU has to play its three toughest opponents in the SEC on the road this year, plus the loss of a bunch of impact starters on defense. I think LSU's next chance at a title will come in an odd-numbered year--when we have our tough games at home. I'll be content with 9-3 next year. In 2007 we will have Virginia Tech, Florida, Auburn, and South Carolina all at home. That is a schedule made for a NC run.
If the coaches feel that Perrilloux is better at QB than both Russell & Flynn, then I will feel very comfortable with him leading the offense. Whether they will feel that way or not is yet to be determined. I do feel like Perrilloux has some advantages in the QB race. People have a tendency to discard RP's quickness & elusiveness, thinking that it won't be enough to seperate him from Flynn & JR because they have more experience. With so many losses on our offensive line, our QB's elusiveness could be a very big factor. However, as Red points out, our tough games are on the road & even-numbered seasons are not typical for a NC run here at LSU. Also, with the tough games being on the road, having a experienced QB under center could really make a difference for the team. Although the QB 'controversy' will be interesting to follow, it won't really decide how successful the offense is. How our OLine, RBs & WRs perform will determine our offense's production, because any of our QBs can lead us. I still expect JaMarcus Russell to be our starter next season, with LSU winning 9, maybe 10 games during the regular season next year.
