Church going people who preach and learn about forgiveness and washing away sin? I lied once, does that mean I can't be a senator, you'll have a tough time finding candidates if that's the case. So what's the line? Which sins are forgivable to remain a politician and which sins cannot be overlooked. If you'll remember, they're all the same in the eyes of the lord. You might want to read up on your faith and stop casting stones because even though I've never met you, I am confident that you, like everyone else in the world (according to the bible, we all sin), live in a glass house.

You've voted for sinners before and will vote for sinners again. I'm not saying Vitter is the best, he certainly embarrassed the hell out of our state. But if you don't vote for him, it should be due to societal or interpersonal reasons related to the severity of his infraction and how that makes you feel about him rather than religious reasons for which your claims don't follow your religion's teachings.

I don't care who Vitter sleeps with. My problem is that he is a hypocrite. He praised Bob Livingston for stepping down amid his sex scandal. He called for Clinton to step down during his. This indicates he thinks lawmakers who have sex scandals should resign. When his scandal surfaced he didn't resign. Why not? It seems pretty clear that is the standard he set for others. Why doesn’t it apply to him?

If he can abandon his principles in this regard where else is he abandoning them? To me he isn’t a viable candidate

We can vote for him or his opponent based on whatever reason we choose.
