In many ways, this tragedy IS shaping up to be Louisiana and Mississippi's 9/11. Don't get me wrong, I was in agony over 9/11 (still am). And I always thought, "As sad as all of us are over the tragedy, how would we feel if we were native New Yorkers?" This hurricane would be tragic if it happened anywhere else. But because it happened to my native south Louisiana, I feel despair to the tips of my toes. I hope we can play this weekend, but if we can't, perspective still needs to be kept here.
i meant on a much smaller scale dude... but yeah... we should play... there will be 90,000 there i promise...
I'm as bummed out as anyone about the game but right now many of our friends, family, and neighbors are suffering terrible losses - including those that did evacuate. The facilities and infrasructure need to be kept free to allow emergency workers to do everything possible to save lives and begin the long road to normalcy. It's insensitive to suggest that the game should supercede those needs. Love, Prayers, and Geaux Tigers.
LSUSPorts.net reports that the game is cancelled. I also heard a very unsubstantiated rumor that the ASU game will be moved to Sun Devil Stadium. That would be bad for me, considering I have plane reservations from Denver and 40 yd line tickets for that game, which would be my first trip to Tiger Stadium in five years and my wife's first trip ever. All of this is obviously of secondary concern when compared to what's going on down there. The DJ on KBCO radio here played a Neville Brothers song earlier and asked everybody listening to keep N.O. in their prayers. Joe T.
