Which Carolina sauce? There are three, not counting that infernal mustard concoction ( I refuse to call it BBQ sauce) they use in Columbia.
Eastern NC- Vinegar and peppers (very loose, for mopping or the table)
Lexington- Vinegar, tomato and peppers (a little loose, for mopping or the table)
Western NC - Tomato paste with some vinegar and peppers (thicker, mostly for table)

Thanks. I started several times to explain, but never quite percolated to the top. I agree that mustard stuff sucks

I ordered a chili dog from a place in North Carolina. When it was served it had cole slaw piled up on top of it. I like a good cole slaw but not on my hot dog, It's like if they put a good bbq sauce on a pb&j. They just don't mix.

You had what we call a Carolina dog. Pretty standard over there and I grew up eating them.Still have one every once in while but not often. My wife cringes when I make it.

Lots of people put cole slaw on pulled pork sandwiches here. How about the ones that put potato salad in their gumbo? Different strokes...

Potato salad on the side of a bowl of gumbo is the best way to eat gumbo

Who comes up with this shit? Several years ago I ordered bbq shrimp and when they served it the shrimp were mixed in wirh mashed potatoes. I made them take it back.

Yep, how it's served in NC. Potato salad in Gumbo? My son in law does this and so do two of his four kids. My wife laughs at him but every now and then I do it too (usually only if the gumbo needs a little help).

Question - Muffuleta hot or cold, seeded or unseeded bun?

Both. I eat the first half hot, and the second half cold as a leftover.

    Seeded. Always
