I agree with you Hou. It always seems (to me) that a good RB needs a few carries to get into the flow of the game. Some RBs get stronger as the game goes on, too. I'd like to see them at least get a couple of series and rotate in and out a little less. If a RB is having a good game, leave 'em in till they get tired, then send some fresh legs and a different style runner in the game. The opposing D gets into a rhythm, too, and the different style might throw 'em off for a few (perhaps big) plays. Having said all of that, I do have the confidence in the coaches to know what is best. That's why they get the big bucks and I'm watching on TV.ldskule:
If history is any indication I think he will....although, quoted as saying he should have played Ryan more than he did.
I have never been a fan of MF. He has not done anything to impress me. I understand RP is a soph..blah blah blah, but damn if we keep MF in the game we are just throwing our season away. Same goes for Lafell. That's all I have to say on this subject.
MF has proven he can play. He's just not playing good RIGHT NOW. That's why they should play RP a little more. Maybe LM is mesmerized by the Damon Factor.
I'm cool with where we are. It's easy to play Monday QB. The entire coaching staff knows how to discuss all these issues out. I've been a big proponent of the younger receivers getting more playing time. With that has come a lot of mistakes, penalties, timing and drop balls. Everyone please remember what the real under tow issue has been...INJURIES. It's part of the game. If we are full strength with all our experienced leaders on the field at the same time we win at Kentucky. We got ready for this season with all our regulars and we lost several by game 3. Luckily a lot of freshman and sophomores are getting playing time which will start paying dividends next week. :geauxtige
IMO, you're right about this. To be certain, LSU's offense is significantly stronger with Doucet in the mix. But with that being said, the LSU offense plays visibly tougher when Holliday is removed from the scheme. Take your pick from the mixture of Scott, Hester, Williams, or Murphy ....... they are all much more physical ....... in other words, they are LSU-style offense. Now, if Holliday's production would be missed, I'd say keep him in, but at what cost? It may not be pleasant to hear, and I'm not here to stir things up, but from a purely football-speaking standpoint, LSU's offense is perceived as "softer" with Holliday than without. (BTW, my personal preference would be the combination of Hester and Murphy but it's hard to second-guess anybody's preference towards Scott.) Personally, I'd much rather face Perrilloux than Flynn since I believe that MF does a better job at reading defenses and checking down into a suitable play. It seems RP only checks down to his own number, which is entirely probable given his tenure, but easier to defend from my point of view. With the return of Doucet, the advantages posed by Flynn become much more significant. Just my $0.02.
answer me this question in terms of Miles saying he can "coach better". Question: At what point in Miles' mind did he think back to how effective Charles Scott was running the ball and ask himself, "Okay, we are up 24-14 due in large part to Scott and his 2 TDs and almost 100 yards rushing. Hester is hurting and the Ky defense is getting tired so we are now going to run Scott down their throats and put this game away". How could he not make this observation? I am not a smart man, but me no comprende.
