If LSU wants to become a pro-style offensive team, then it needs to fully commit to running that type of offense to be effective. That means the 2-QB system has to go. It's one thing when you don't have a consistently effective pocket passer and you try to make do with what you've got. If you already have an established passer, dual QBs only serve to upset the primary QB's rhythm with his receivers.

I would get behind bringing Jefferson in only as a change of pace if Mettenberger is struggling against SEC defenses. In that situation Jefferson's experience and feet MIGHT get us out of a jam. However, it becomes a liability if the playcalling becomes too predictable. Crowton can't even keep offenses guessing with one QB, much less two.

Not this year, he didn't. Lee never got a chance to start and play a whole game, even when Jefferson was the worst quarterback in Division I earlier this year.

I agree. Jefferson is a fine athlete, just not a quarterback. If he has dreams of the NFL, he must leave QB as Shepard did, and find a position that better utilizes his athletic skills.

    As I see it .....

LSU is going to have to scrap the entire offensive approach for next year.

    1) ZM is no running QB. too big .. too slow. To try and hang on to Jefferson's strengths, the offense will have to learn two totally different systems. That'll just make them confused.

    2) Jefferson is no pocket passer. If he hasn't got it by now, he will never get it. His problem is he pulls the trigger to run too early. People always move to their comfort zone ... and running is JJ.s

    3) .. putting 1 and 2 together, its obvious that ZM can't be JJ's backup, and JJ can't be ZMs backup. They simply are two different of style. Trying to make it so will be just a mess.

If it were me ... I'd create a pro-style offense, with ZM and JLee, .... move JJ to tightend as previously suggested, or as a full back and Wildcat QB for special plays.

ON ANOTHER NOTE ... regading J Lee .... he did not get a chance this season at all. It goes back to #1. This years offense was designed around JJ. The plays .. everything was designed around JJ. As a result, the offense could not run a "J Lee" style offense effectively .. they simply didn't practice such. Further .. Lee could not run a JJ offense. No suprise, the play calling for Lee stunk. The OC did more to make Lee look bad than Lee did.

And I'm already on record as stating that I don't blame J Lee for throwing in the towel towards the end of the season. The Staff robbed him of his reward .... killed his momentum. They should have started him for the McNeese Game and played him the entire game. But they didn't. They went with the 2QB system .. which basically told Jarret ... you ain't good enough.

It was obvious to me .. and I'm sure to J Lee .. that Miles et al., were just waiting for JJ to show some sign of life. The minute they saw it .. Lee was marginalized yet again. Hell .. I'm not sure I'd have even finished the season. I'd a told them to go and #@$% themselves. It's the exact reason I quit all sports in high school. I don't do politics, favoritism, and ass kissing.

I would almost bet my life that LSU will be running the 2 quarterback system with Mett and JJ next season.

If ZM can't beat out Jefferson, he's not the answer.

Les needs to scrap this two QB system. If you have two QBs, you don't have any. Use Jefferson as a wildcat QB only.

have you guys been watching LSU football? It's not about what you think should be done, it's about what's going to be done.

Should it be scrapped, sure, but i am willing to be that isn't what is going to happen.

The answer is 'No' and Jefferson will start. Heck, this goes back to one of many examples that the best player may not see much playing time under Miles due to his 'comfort level' with a player, ie Keiland Williams to Charles Scott. Miles has also learned the value of not sending in a QB too early to the SEC fires. And I especially don't believe that Lee will transfer, if he has not done so by now, he ain't gonna do it.

I think the thing above all else that everyone seems to forget is this: Lee and JJ are as good as they are going to get. They had to play too early (due to Perriloux being kicked off the team) and did not get the proper development in the system. JJ has potential and Lee is a good kid. NEITHER one is an SEC caliber QB and neither one would have started on ANY other SEC team this season, and that includes Vandy. JJ can not read a defense well enough. He is too sporadic with his passing game. Lee throws EVERY ball off his back foot and has trouble checking down and not going to his first read. For LSU to get a kid at QB the caliber of Mettenberger is a blessing, because guess what? Our QB situation for next season was going to be just as bad as this one and going into 2012, we were looking at having a redshirt freshman with no experience take the job. Mettenberger is a win-win for LSU. JJ and Lee may lose out on the situation, but bottom line is that Reuban Randle, R. Shepard and all our other very promising WR's, just became very, very excited to hear that Mettenberger is coming to LSU. Any LSU fan who is hanging on to JJ and Lee and the hope they will get better next season is living a dream. Having said all of that, I think Miles should get rid of Crowton after the Cotton Bowl and get a new OC.
