I don't get your statements. The first one agrees we will blow it up in the passing game the rest of the year. The 2nd says you have extreme doubts.
yeah havent we learned these type games never play out like think. 300 yds passing total. 2-3 tds. lots of rushing yards. snore-fest most go home at halftime. 33-6 pray no one gets injured.
pretty much I think the 300 yards passing is still too high (I projected 247). We want to get Ware back and going as well, he'll get 20 carries.
What I meant was that I think his hopeful stats for this game will more likely resemble our combined passing stats for the rest of the regular season.
Lee saved us last year and JJ did it this year with Bama. I watched the game again yesterday for the first time. I noticed a few things. First of all, LSU looked much better on defense than I gave them credit for during the game. I also noted that this game was moving way too fast for Lee. I hope Miles keeps the same formula of Lee starting, getting 75% snaps and JJ in relief, but that may not happen. I also noted that JJ performed much better than I thought he did during the game. Without him LSU might have been held to under 100 yds of offense. JJ is calmer and can handle the pressure much better than Lee. Call it luck or an aberration, but JJ ran the option well, which may be the only time he did so in the last 4 years. I still think JJ can be as successful as Lee in the passing game if we run the play action with JJ and less of the option. JL wil be fine the rest of the season and even into the NCCG, if we get there, as long as it is not Bama. If we play Bama, expect lots of JJ and less Lee. Having said that, we will neeed both QB's as we move forward and I hope they both continue to do well. I would like to see Mett, but do not think that will happen. My guess is that Miles turns the tides a little and we see more 50/50 Jl/JJ and maybe even more JJ. I think that might upset our chemistry since they demand to run the option with JJ.
Ah yes. The regular season (as in 3 games total). I hope we do better than 167 yards passing from here on out. I think we can average a little over 200 yards passing the last 3 games of the season, based on the defenses we will play.
It's not as much of a slight against our abilities in the passing game as it is a conclusion drawn from the way that we've played this season. It's not that we can't throw for 200-250ypg, it's that we simply don't need do, and therefore, don't. We are a run-first, ball control offense that will go for the occasional long pass. We can easily dominate the LOS and create turnovers against the rest of our opponents, so I don't think the coaching staff will change course. If the D blows a couple of coverages against Arky, we may need to air it out a bit. But honestly, I see us creating a lot of turnovers in that game and running a lot of time-consuming drives against their pathetic defense. But of course, Ware or Ford may break a few long runs, so who knows.
You are 100 percent correct. When forced to throw the ball (defense stacking the box) we have always come through (minus the Bama game). But if we're not forced to throw, we will keep things simple in the passing game.
