I haven't heard anything about that. That would be real interesting seeing Randall play a different postion, especially defense. But I dont see Randall playing defense...I think he will stay being the #2 or #3 QB.
Randall's position cchange With LSU's lack of depth at the QB position, it is highly unlikely that Randall will be switching positions for a variety of reasons. 1. It would be impossible for him to assimilate the coverages and responsibilities in time for him to be of any assistance for the tigers. 2. Though he is a good athlete for a QB, it is very unlikely that he is skilled enough to play in the secondary on one of the top teams in the nation. 3. If he were to change positions, that would leave LSU with two RsFr QB's (with no game experience) to run the offense and no other options. Most likely, Randall will probably remain in the thick of the QB race until at least fall practice. By doing this, Saban would insure his team of having three talented QB's -- considering the possibility that Randall, if eliminated from the QB rotation during spring practice, might seek the opportunity to play elsewhere.
One reasonable post on this entire thread!? What are you guys thinking? Randall will be the number one guy going into the spring, period. One of he 2 freshmen will have to beat him out. Move a drop back passer to the secomdary? Come on think! Go down to 2 QB's to make it all the way through spring and fall practice when 3 is not enough and 5 would be perfect? Remember, they throw 100's of passes at practice to All of the wideouts and RB's and they also have to have guys running the scout teams in the fall. I would be shocked if we don't bring in at least one QB this year as a walk on if we don't sign one. Randall is a senior now, he's not moving to another position. Safety???
Respectfuly disagree cajdav1. I think the QB job is open and will be won in the spring practice. I don't think anyone is ranked anywhere right now, as far as QB goes. I agree with you on moving Randall to another position. With a lack of depth at QB, Randall will definitely remain a QB. His game time experience will be invaluable to the freshmen when he talks with them while the defense is on the field. That is, his observations from the sideline will be important in the development of the freshmen. Randall making a push for the job is what will drive these freshmen to compete even harder and push him out of the way. Spring practice repots are going to be AWESOME!!!
