    See Roy Adams, aka Tennstud. He's well known, and has publically stated on many an occasion, that he's given benefits to MSU players, and yes, players from the schools in MS.

    As to the thread...

    For one, I'm happy the compliance department is on its toes. I've seen a few instances over the last few years where I thought Chris King was going a bit overboard. But, better safe than sorry, right?

    It's funny and sad at the same time.

    Consider...

    "Hi, how are ya?" That is within the rules.

    "Hi, how are ya? Is school going ok?" That is against the rules.

    One instance was a conversation at a ball game that exceeded a greeting. The other, a fan gave a kid a book on the history of Alabama football. Both, NCAA violations.

    Seriously, you buy tickets to a game. You are a booster. Alumni Association. Booster. The list goes on and on and on...

    The GA, just a stupid move...should have known better.

    Am I ticked off at the boosters? No, can't say I am. The restrictions in place are just assinine especially when you can't have a casual conversation with a recruit.

    The GA...wouldn't feel like knocking him in the head, but I would ask him, "how can you be this stupid."

    FWIW, I don't know if he was a GA with the Ath. Dept. or not...but, I assume so considering it was for a visit.

    Ya know, if I was a GA and happened to be friends with a recruit and gave his mom and dad a ride to the game it's a violation?

    You'll see three more secondary violations being reported in the next few months...about improper contact with Saban and recruits...stemming from a conversation that was longer than, "Hi, how are ya?"

    I don't see any people talking about South Carolina players taking banned substances, etc. :grin:

    13.02.13 Representative of Athletics Interests. A “representative of the institution’s athletics
    interests” is an individual, independent agency, corporate entity (e.g., apparel or equipment manufacturer) or other organization who is known (or who should have been known) by a member of the institution’s executive or athletics administration to: (Revised: 2/16/00)

    (a) Have participated in or to be a member of an agency or organization promoting the institution’s
    intercollegiate athletics program;

    (b) Have made financial contributions to the athletics department or to an athletics booster organization
    of that institution;

    (c) Be assisting or to have been requested (by the athletics department staff) to assist in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes;

    (d) Be assisting or to have assisted in providing benefits to enrolled student-athletes or their families; or

    (e) Have been involved otherwise in promoting the institution’s athletics program
    .

    13.02.13.1 Representative of Athletics Interests. Once an individual, independent agency, corporate
    entity or other organization is identified as such a representative, the person, independent
    agency, corporate entity or other organization retains that identity indefinitely.

    -------

    As example, that bold phrase includes you guys that have contributed here...includes Red, Grad, all the Admin's, Mod's, etc.

    From the LSu compliance guide.

    "An individual is considered to be a representative of Louisiana State University’s athletics interests (booster) just by being a former student, friend, or fan. Once an individual is identified as an athletic representative, the person retains that identity indefinitely."

    Non-contributing members could also be considered boosters . . . or any fan. Got an LSU bumper sticker? "Good afternoon, Mr. Representative of LSU Athletics Interests."

    For reasons that aren't anybody's business, I'm actually a member of TAF. :lol: But don't worry, I'll stay away from the LSU recruits. :grin:

    I'm also a long time USC support group member. At events where there are recruits, I keep as far away as possible. I don't even say hello.

    While living in Houston I covered High School football games for the Houston Chronicle as a hobby on Friday and Saturday nights. I would always wear a nice LSU shirt while covering the games. I had access to field and both teams. I never talked about LSU unless asked. Just wearing the LSU shirt brought attention to our great school. Many players would wonder if I was a scout from LSU. When asked I always identified myself with the Chronicle and LSU was my college team of choice. I can't believe anyone from Bama is dumb enough to pay for a recruits family travel. Dumb, Dumb, Dumb. That also goes for any LSU booster that would do the same at LSU.

    Last year, when Greg McElroy registered, purposefully I avoided any contact with him until he had signed his letter of intent. Now, I speak with him via email quite often. 8 years ago I wouldn't have known better. Now, with a better understanding of the rules, I won't speak to them, period.

    Reminds me of a story.

    Many of you guys are familiar, if only by name, with TiderInsider. A school in the state of Alabama started trying to raise hell about the owner a couple of years ago because he was calling recruits and handling interviews. Of course, it was just another one of those summertime, let's mess with Bama anyway we can. (it's become an annual tradition with a group of them...including going as far as starting stories about Croyle being killed in a hunting accident.)

    Great!! Now, you've gone and added another chapter or two the manual that's already 3" to 3.5" thick!! :lol:

    You are one of the smart ones. What most don't realize is most of the boosters/Alumni aren't as familiar with the rules as we are. It's a shame, but at the same time very understandable.

    And that's a violation, if you answered.

    Bama didn't pay for it, geez. I'm not excusing what the GA did, but facts are the staff was unaware of what the GA had done. They found out about it, and reported it.
