Saban also laid into Carey big time in the 3Q, I'm guessing for fielding a punt inside the 10. And while Saban might think this could be a very special year, getting Shyrone Carey hurt in the 4Q of a blowout might set this team back big time, should Carey's MRI come up bad.
It really is something to watch him patrol the sidelines...he accepts nothing less than 100% EVERY play. Many people talk about high expectations, but Saban really demands it. There is not doubt that he will make better players out of all of these guys. I just have never seen a kicker chewed out, especially after Jackson was the one who made the tackle, but then if he had kicked it right, he wouldn't have to be making tackles. Curry last night was comparing him to Lombardi...gotta like that.
Re: On Kickoffs I disagree. If executed properly, the starting field position will be INSIDE of the 20. On touchbacks starting field position IS the 20 yard line.
Re: Re: On Kickoffs It depends on the quality of the returner. Most SEC teams have a competent return man. If they have an excellent one like Domanick Davis was, you always try to kick it out of the endzone and never give him an opportunity. If you have a good coverage team, sometimes you try to kick it high and force the returner to field it under pressure. But it's usually better to deny them the opportunity.
By the way guys...the sideline reporter said that the LSU trainers said they gave Carey the ACL test, and it came back fine, but he does have a strained MCL...He'll get his MRI today... Jack Hunt was also on crutches...Our depth in the secondary lasted into the bye week, but we played against inferior competition the first three weeks of the season. I hope that when we come back, we can go another 5 or 6 games before we run into a rash of injuries...
