That's what I was thinking. But remember, two years before that, the I-Bowl gave us the chance to beat down a Saban-led Mich State team, 45-26.
That's funny looking back on it. I was so jacked up that we were going to the I-Bowl at the end of the '95 season. One of the best nights of my life. I'll never forget it. Looking back on it now, its amazing how far we have come. But at that time, we hadn't been to a bowl since the 1988 season, which we finished by losing to Syracuse in the Hall of Fame Bowl.
The south east is know for being one of the biggest cancer Belts in the nation and new orleans is know all around the nation for corruption and being a cesspool. Laffy is know for having ull. Screw the south bias. Stick your liget sh;t up yours.:milesmic:
Pretty much agree. Have lived in north and south Louisiana. Have visited and/or worked in all 64 parishes. Enjoyed all of it. People have been good to me wherever I've been and I'm proud they are my people. I feel fortunate to have visited and experienced the whole state.
To the folks in our state that talk bad about our part of the state I say don't come up here. We like it the way it is just fine. I will have agree this is not the worst city in America and is not the best, but there is no doubt our state leaves a lot to be desired. Our educational system is a joke. Our political system is a corrupt as any where in the country. It is amazing how many folks that state that once the coast is threatened by hurricanes how much they like the northern part of the state then. When folks from other parts of the state talk bad about us that is fine and they are making the comments based on unknown facts, but when our brothers and sisters in other parts of the state talk bad about places they know very little about that is pure ignorance. If you ask me if the folks of North Louisiana do not support our citizens of the south and if the citizens of South Louisiana do not support the folks of the north we will continue going down this road.
That's cause Louisiana sucks. I wouldn't leave though, it's home; however, it's a home I love, despite education, jobs, "Wordly things" are da chit. For outdoorsmen it is a paradise but other than that, there's not much. I just could never bring myself to leave family, second and third generation friends. It is, imo, the one thing that IS great about our State, it's personable and the small community has benefits. Though the "Gossip" can be irritating, it's not AS hard to find out where your kids are, what they're up to on the weekends, etc. We still have plenty of drug abuse, teenage pregnancies, and all that but, overall, I think it's a better place to raise kids than "The big city"- that's what vacations are for. They can get the exposure to the cement ponds then. I'm a country bumpkin though and I admit that without reservation. Mamou is dying on the vine. We're in jeopardy of losing our hospital and that could be the straw to break the camel's back. For anyone who hasn't been to a Mardi Gras there, it's worth the trip. Traditional, horses, house to house, and community gumbo at the end of the day with the goodies collected- I've never made it to the meal but they tell me it's good. Population of approx. 3500 but over 20,000 on Fat Tuesday with street dances, live bands beginning Monday.
