With apologies to all you SP/BC TFers, based on the few times i have been there to visit family this year, the description is pretty funny, if a little harsh http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=325392 Lets be serious for a minute. Besides the opportunity to see bama sink to new levels of misery, is there any reason to watch?
I lived in Bossier City waaaaaay back in the late 70s when I was a young trooper in the USAF. Not much there then. Except of course "the Strip"! Was pretty much a blue collar town built around an Air Force base. :tigereye::tigereye::tigereye:
Detroit, Mobile, and Birmingham aren't exactly hot spots either in December. At least the Independence Bowl gets better teams (usually) than many of the other bowls. Even though Alabama and Colorado didn't set the world on fire, they're still a better draw than most of the bowls that have already been played. They just need to make sure they maintain their contract with the SEC and Big 12.
Sorry to rain on this parade but, dood. You don't need Burbon street to have a party. Just ask Podkatt himself. I happen to think the Independence bowl usually is a good game with medium to good type teams (and, oh yeah, Bama too). It pitts an SEC team and big 12 team. I like the bowl.
I come from a town 30 miles east of Shreveport. It was crap back then as it is now. In fact, Shreveport wanted LSU to play one game per season up there in the Indepence bowl. I think they're damn lucky to get the dregs of the SEC for their pathetic game. Of course I'll be pulling for Colorado.
