I am sorry, comparing the Office of the President of the United States to Gerry Dinardo is a bit off.

Well you still didnt answer my question, yes I get all the Rah Rah stuff. I get all that the American system is the greatest in the world, and I love being an american for it regardless of who is elected. But lets put that aside, after the balloons have gone, the band stops playing.

So thats it then ? I mean its an answer I guess.

Today I should be happy because of "Hope and Change" and the fact our new president is half african american. Hmm in a country so eager to remove race from the equation I guess I dont get that. But O.K. I mean I dont care what color a person is. I was hoping Colin Powell would run, not because he is black, because I think he would have been a great leader. I voted for Jindal, had nothing to do with his heritage. Just the person. So lets remove race from it.

    So that its then?

I am excited today for "Hope and Change"... and our democracy was on grand display today. O.K. I get the last one, it is magical to watch and makes me proud of our country. I can buy into that I guess. But I am still lost on the "hope and change" stuff. Dont know what it is, but I will Hope there is Hope and Change. Except I hope we DONT change the fact we havent had a single terrorist attack on this soil since 9-11.

One last question, the last two years the Democrats and those who are like minded such as Mr. Obama have been in power of the most powerful branch of our government. The last two years have really sucked. So can we hope for some change there as well ? Or does that not count.

I will say Obama is a very charasmatic person, and I dont think he is stupid. And honestly unlike most media and hollywood types respect the office of the president and for our nation I root for his success, And yes the Reagan conservatives of this country had a back turned to them for awhile. I guess I just find it hard to celebrate the fact the the two most powerful branches now of the government are controlled by people who not only turn their backs to conservatism but primary goal is to set it on fire and stamp it out out while using the constitution of our nation to stoke the fire....

I didn't compare the "office" of the President to Gerry Dinardo I compared the President leaving office to Dinardo. It's a fair comparison as both were very incompetent and if anyone should have their feelings hurt it should be Dinardo, at least he a a couple successful years.

And for those that don't think the media wanted Obama to win, you have been proven wrong in this last week. Never has an inauguration had this much hype in the media.

I was at a local gas station yesterday, owned by a black woman. She was wearing her Obama t-shirt. She was talking with a customer which was obvious that she knew personally. She told him to come celebrate with them today because she was closing the store to throw a party today for the inauguration. Claiming today was gonna be a great day.

I wasn't going to say anything, but then i thought why not. So i asked her, knowing the answer already, "so you have a party for every inauguration?" She said no, this was the first one. Then i asked why. She said because the Savior is coming. Obama's gonna save America. The first African-American President is gonna fix our problems she said. All i said in response was that I hope you're right.

It's amazing how some people think that all their problems are just gonna go away now that Obama's in office. You can't get anymore ignorant than that. Obama himself has stated that our problems won't be fixed overnight and that it will get worse before it gets better. I didn't vote for Obama, but he's our President now. I hope he can fix our problems, but let's wait and see what the man does before we annoint him our Savior.

And he's the first African-American President? Let's see...he's half white, half black, and he's from Hawaii. Where the hell does Africa fit into this equation? Why isn't he an American President?

    1. In four years, Bobby Jindal will lead a revolution that will force the Republican party to become more young, intelligent, in-touch with the American people, and more importantly, more constitutionally-minded and conservative.

    At least, I hope so.

    2. No more Palin for a while. :hihi:

Dude, I was flipping through the channels, and at least 6 channels in a row were all about Barack Obama. Half of them were shopping channels selling commemorative plates, coins, etc.

He's even on my freaking Xbox Live! :po:

Really? Come on, man. A half-century ago, racial discrimination was legally and openly practiced in America. As a black president, Obama has come at least 20 years before his time (i.e. before anyone would have expected it). It's unfortunate that you think that the historical significance of his achievement should be disregarded, but don't expect the rest of the general public to be so fickle.
Well, for many, myself included, part of it is that he possesses 'first-class intellect, and first-class temperament.' Both qualities are required of a good leader, for someone who seeks to unite those he serves and represents. He also seems to have the ability to inspire people to want to improve America by reaching from within themselves. Isn't that truly the American way, a way from which we have strayed vastly in recent decades? And Obama seems to have a way of convincing people that he comes from a good place. He is very much a break from the traditional mold of politicians, who themselves have manifested such bleak circumstances as the challenges the country is currently facing.

And the bottom line is, most Americans simply agree with his views. His vow to govern with science rather than faith is extremely important to me. I also feel that he has the ability and desire to restore America's image as the benevolent superpower in the global community. I believe that he has the will to challenge the way that things are done if they are unsuccessful or inefficient. For example, he has repeatedly stated that he will eliminate spending on programs that do not work, or do not invest tax dollars wisely. I am also fond of his original and practical ideas, like his proposition to allow students to pay for college by performing community service work, or to improve the economy by investing in green technology. Oh, and I also like the fact that I will be getting a tax cut if his plan comes to fruition.

Of course, the game still has to be played. He is extremely ambitious, and it's highly unlikely that he'll meet all of his goals. And if I feel that he deserves it, I will most certainly be critical of his performance. But at this point, I'm as optimistic as I've been in my 30 years on this planet.

There, I didn't use any of your buzzwords. Feel differently? I didn't think so.
Well, the last president to allow one is now unemployed.
Things have sucked for a lot longer than that. However, the credit/housing crisis and the oil spike were more than 2 years in the making.
First of all, it doesn't sound like you're even going to give it a chance, so why were you asking in the first place? Second, you have no one to thank but your fellow republicans for their own recent collapse. In becoming drunk on power, they managed to alienate the majority of the country, including a large segment of their own base. And if the democrats make the same mistake, the same fate is theirs to suffer.

The mob is fickle. It has always been that way. They booed Hillary at Obama's convention. The booed Jarret Lee in Tiger stadium for doing the best he friggin' could. They booed smilin' George Forman versus Draft Dodging Mohammed Ali in The Rumble in the Jungle.

The mob only knows "Yaaay" and "Boooo". Thank your hobnailed jackboots that you live in a country where you can boo a president on the steps of the Capitol if you want to. Rude and stupid, perhaps, but it's American-style freedom at its most basic.

I agree that these people are extremely idiotic, every bit as those who fear an impending socialist/terrorist takeover. There are extremes in both directions, but they, in no way, represent the median. I mean, really, are the people who forward you the 'Obama is the Anti-Christ' email any less gullible or foolish than the lady at the gas station?
Well, his dad is from Africa, and his mom is American. So yeah, he's actually African-American.
