I'm rooting for everyone except Florida. I said all season that I thought Florida who just got by Vandy was overrated and I'm second guessing myself but Florida had a few games they lucked out in this past year. LSU, Vandy, etc. I expect Florida to be blown out in this game without that defensive guy that was re-instated for our game then kicked off the team. I'm still smarting from our Florida loss since we gave them an early christmas present. People still talk about the Auburn game but I don't see that one, yes, there are questions about any loss but this game was early in the season. The Florida game hurt the worst since we gave it away.
Ohio State has NEVER beat an SEC team in a bowl game. Yep, Ohio State is 0-7. Meanwhile, Notre Dame has not won a bowl game since 1994. Notre Dame could set a record by losing 9 bowl games in a row. They are currently tied with South Carolina and WVU with 8 in a row. Florida will win if they get away with dirty play. Reggie Lewis and Reggie Nelson will cheap shot Troy Smith a few times and the game will be decided by whether or not the refs are going to call those penalties. It will be interesting...
Well, I'm kind of torn. My first inclination is to pull against Fla b/c of some of the bullsh!t wins that they got this year (S. Car, FSU, UK, etc.). Not that they didn't earn those wins, but that their performance in such games makes me think that they don't quite deserve to be in the NC game. Yes, I know we had our fair share of luck in 2003. But we never had so many close-calls to so many inferior opponents. Then, of course, there's the whole 'Pope Meyer' thing that I don't know if I can stomach. However, I will be in Utah the night of the game, so part of me feels like I should represent the SEC out west. At any rate, I don't think that UF will win. Reason being, a significant portion of their success this year has come from capitalizing on the mistakes of their opponents. Yes, I realize that good teams do that. But, really, how many times were the games gift-wrapped for them this year? Tiger fans know about this more than anybody. OSU will NOT make those kinds of mistakes. They are a very disciplined team and Tressel is a great big-game coach. If they win this one, they'll have to earn it.
SEC, SEC, SEC. LSU is the best team in the best conference in the nation. Unfortunately they didn't hit their stride until after their debacle in Gainesville. When the Gators get out there on the field with Ohio State, they're going to say to themselves, "Man, these guys are nothing compared to the Tigers. Let's go kick their @$$!" I will be going for the Gators, no doubt. And I will be rooting against the Big 10 in every bowl game. So far, they're 0-2, with an embarrassing record-breaking loss by Minnesota versus Texas Tech (blowing a 31 point lead in less than a quarter and a half). I want someone to give Kirk Herbstreit a few slaps for his badmouthing both LSU and Florida and giving the reach-around to Ohio State and Michigan. I understand his heart being with the Big 10, sure. But he'll find out soon enough where the real athletes are. In the SEC. :tigerhead Georgia 20, Virginia Tech 17 Tennessee 34, Penn State 7 Arkansas 27, Wisconsin 20 Auburn 24, Nebraska 10 LSU 38, Notre Dame 17 Florida 30, Ohio State 13
I remember some LSU fans saying Florida fans were openly cheering for A&M at last year's tournament. I think I will pull for the buckeyes.
The Gator fans sitting next to me in Indy were cheering for UCLA. I guess it's only fair, since I was cheering for GMU. :hihi:
I agree the Florida game hurt the most. We just handed it to them. That said, I will be a Gator fan for the day. Down with the Buckeyes. I hope it is just like last year when no one was giving Texas much of a chance.
I cannot root for Ohio St., I cannot even though they're great, I cannot, will not root for them, and as for Herbie, I say SCREW HIM!:geauxtige
