    I must've missed something, who's talking about that?? "Weak minds want to know". :hihi:

    I like Miles but since you're posting his credentials, let's look at them. Do they say he's a very good coach......yes. How good it still to be determined but I likey so far- don't know how far a degree in Economics goes on the field but do tell.

    When Miles took over at OSU, he went 4-7 his first year, but then went 8-5, 9-4, and 7-5.........Accident?? Jus askin.

    What he's done here so far- and especially given the circumstanced- is, without a doubt, commendable and a great accomplishment.

    Can't believe you left out one of the departments he's definitely proven in.......recruiting. :thumb:

    How many times is the Tennessee game 2 years ago brought up here & on other boards compared to the Win in Knoxville last year? Also, Miami's worst bowl loss delivered by our then backup QB, has become to a few "Miami didn't want to be there". What a clown excuse! Apparently some have forgotten Miami's players talking smack about LSU before the game. I think his Miles recruiting speaks for itself. I'm not sure what you are asking about his Economics degree. As for his seasons at Okie State a perrenial loser, he had 3 winnning seasons, and made them a force in the Big 12, ask Bob Stoops. Look at the reaction of the Oklahoma fans after he left Okie St. With the exception of the 1972 season, the last coach to have a better winning percentage at Okie St. was Lynn O. "Pappy" Waldorf in 1929-1933.

    I got confused when you mentioned people complaining about his 4 loses, I thought you meant in relation to this thread...the rest was just in jest.

    Good answer though. :thumb:

    It's hard to say, seeing as how none of us were there and can only speculate about it. Maybe he got caught up in the moment and just wanted to pump the crowd up or whatever. If there's anyone to blame, blame the media for ballooning this up to the national scale and tryin to start somethin out of it.

    No I don't have comparative injury stats but I do have this rather obvious comparison just between our two teams:

    Ranked teams USC played at game time and final poll - Also, all your ranked opponents faced you at home
    Nebraska(19/unranked)
    Oregon(21/unranked)
    Cal(17/14)
    Notre Dame(6/17) you should be embarrassed to count this because I assure you, nobody at LSU counts them
    Michigan(3/8) In a bowl game, after the regular season

    Ranked Teams LSU played at game time and final poll - All of ours were on the road
    Auburn(3/9)
    Florida(5/1)
    Tenn (8/25)
    Ark(5/15) - Unranked at the time you played them and please don't suggest this was the same team when we played them.
    Notre Dame (11/17) In a bowl game after the regular season and we played within a month of you destroying them. We both beat them like a rented mule, proving they had no business being ranked in the top 25. This game is a wash for both of us and should not be counted.

    These are the rankings of the defenses we faced during the regular season:
    USC 27,30(ooc),31(ooc),39,43,49,57(ooc),66,69,85,88,109
    LSU 6,7,29,31,38,39(ooc),63,77(ooc),87,98(ooc),102,114

    What these statistics should show you is that we faced many more tough defenses then USC. Christ the only defense you played all year ranked in the top 25 were yourselves in practice! You were ranked 12th, and nobody was even close to you! We both played 6 teams each ranked in the top 50 and virtual cream puffs after that. But do you really think our opponents match up? Do you really think that doesn't wear a team down after a season of these guys sprinkled in every other week? I am sure your guys got injuries but it wasn't because you faced smash mouth defense, that is for sure. Since everyone here knows you guys are THE team in the PAC 10, should I proceed with the next 2-4 top teams in our conferences and go through their schedules? I promise you, they won't fair better.

    I agree with you on both counts and believe you to be a level headed fan. However, by the look of the message boards and articles being written, Trojans like yourself appear to be few and far between. Most people regard it just the other way around and it is hypocritical to the argument that the PAC 10 is as tough as the SEC to navigate.
    If you mean OOC road games, I agree with this also, but your schedule is dominated by conference games, as is ours. Couple that with the fact that our conference teams will be ranked much higher in all categories, means we will play tougher games, and more of them.
    That is how you choose to take it. Nowhere did I read anything that he said about your team being inferior or undeserving in anyway. He merely pointed out the inequities of the two conferences, much as many sports writers have said. He is being vilified in the press because it sells. Nearly all these guys agree with Miles while at the same time claiming he is wrong for saying it. Honestly, most of these sports writers just need a golf shoe up their ass...

    I've heard the recording, so it's out there somewhere. Miles was joking & playing up to the crowd. It was not mean spirited & he was not on a rant, diatribe, or raving like a lunatic. He was having fun with the crowd. Kind of interesting the media picked this "Story" to run with. I know Stewart Mandel hasn't heard it. LSU plays the Defending National Champs in Game 6. USC "Entertains" Arizona that week, a program that has been ranked 7 times since 1899. Just don't tell Stewie.

    '06 yes, '05 no. LSU has been in the top 2 for the last two years...great defensive teams, no doubt.

    Due to the hoopla surrounding the contract with Saban I've looked over quite a few contracts over the last few months. In fact, we had a discussion here last week about some of the finer details of buy-outs, etc.

    I've yet to see a contract for a HC with anything like that. Now, perhaps the Ath. Dir. has a provision built in...

    No doubt at all. Not only great, but consistent.

    NCAA national total defense rankings

    2006 = LSU #3, Bama #23
    2005 = LSU #3, Bama #2
    2004 = LSU #3, Bama #2
    2003 = LSU #1, Bama #43

    I think part of it is comes from not playing USC since 2003...starting w/ Matt Leinart's asinine comments about "We tried to schedule LSU, but they wanted no part of us", etc., back in '03.

    I, for one, was fired up when UCLA upended the Trojans. For a few hours, anyway, most thought that paved the way for a USC-LSU Rose Bowl, with Mich-OSU in the title game.

    Look, LSU and USC have been at or near the top the past 4 seasons, year in and year out. It's been hard to watch other so-called great teams in recent years get worn out by USC (Oklahoma comes to mind), and be left as an LSU fan to wonder, "What if :helmet: was playing? What happens then?"

    It's natural for fans of both to want to get it on. Hopefully, Les and thousands like him will get his wish next January.
