If it had been another Republican candidate then I would have never made the assertion but Trump had already lost the general election when it started because of the positions he had to espouse in the primaries in order to win. Combined with dramatic shifts in demographics, particularly in battleground states, Trump's alienation of hispanics, women and african americans made his victory an impossible one.
