I don't think he's saying you would have to give up your rights, just that you could CHOSE to not display it as a sign of respect.

So you only care b/c of the possibility of losing some black athletes at LSU?

I'm sure that makes those black athletes feel better...

Of course! I'm the epitome of selfishness.

Look, i never said the flag should be banned. Just, for the sake of LSU Football, if you really care, lay low with ya flag....

hey, ya know what i just thought of: Hank Williams Jr singing "If the South would have won we would have had it made...." and he's the NFL's clown every Monday Night.

    Where's the spin-doctors there?

I think ESPN has a top secret plan to destroy LSU football.

Name a player that has come out and said he was offended. Name a recruit that has pulled a commitment due to the flag. Just one.

So far, the only group I hear bitching is the black student union. News break, I don't give a **** what offends them or any other student organization on or off campus.

Now, that being said, and God forbid this gets out, if one or more of our players asked us, as fans, not to fly it, done. I'd take it down. I don't see that happening. It was flying when they committed. They walked around campus during their visits and I'm sure they saw a few. I've never heard any of them mention it. We won a national championship in 2003 with players that were recruited while we flew the flag. We've had top recruiting classes for years now with the flag flying. I don't think it has been a problem.

All of that being said, you talk like we are the only campus in the south, besides Ole Myth, that fly a Confederate flag. Guess what, you're wrong. I would be willing to bet a months pay that at most schools in the south, on any given Sat afternoon, you could find many different versions of the Confederate flag flying.

I guess that means you'll be taking down that confederate flag. Not only did several players speak out against the flag, but one of the was in them protested himself demanding O'Keefe take action.

    http://www.lsureveille.com/vnews/display.v/ART/2005/10/25/435db868a736b

"Despite warnings from some crowd members that he may lose his football scholarship for his opinions, Jones told the chancellor he does not agree with the administration’s current position — saying it will not ban the flag."

"To me, it’s very offensive,” [Justin] Vincent said of the rebel symbol. “A big percentage of the team is made up of black people and for them to raise a purple and gold Confederate flag, and mix school spirit and the old South, I just find that totally disrespectful, to be honest with you.”

All I saw, or heard, about it was the BSU calling out some of our black players and asking them not to play. They even had their names listed on signs calling them out. I have not heard of a single player making a statement about the flags. As far as I know, they couldn't care less.

i wish everyone would make a tshirt out of the confederate lsu flag and wear it to the games. all 92 thousand people.

this issue rolls over campus every year when a couple budding uppity blacks or bleeding heart liberals arrive at college and start trying to figure things out. they start simple with an issue like this. they think they have some thoughtful opinion about it so they write the reveille about it. then some good ole boys respond and the cycle continues. hoprefully everyone gets older and realizes there is no point to it.

we should embrace politically incorrect views because allowing them makes sure we know where everyone stands. otherwise people might get angry and start making mean plans in secret.

if you want to be restricted, you can move to other countries. i am not sure but i think germany outlaws "hate speech". i suppose they do not realize the problem with dictating to people what sort of ideas are right and wrong. thats why america is far better than most places.
