Why does the media think Weis is such a great coach?

I am amazed (and confused) with this guy's stance on Notre Dame football. Why can't we all just look at the situation with an honest eye and call it as everyone in the USA can see it?
Notre Dame has had a VERY large advantage in the recruiting wars over years (especially in Louisiana) due to parents and relatives using the religious card when a young guy is being recruited. We have an awful lot of faithful catholics in south Louisiana and that has been a big factor in the past. I'm sure it's still a factor in some cases, just not as big as it was years ago. Notre Dame is still getting some quality recruits, so obviously you have to wonder WHY a young man would consider going to ND. Before you say it,,,,I KNOW ND gets the television coverage (they're playing tomorrow on Nat'l TV) even though it's a pretty fair bet they're gonna get plowed by whomever they play. At this point, it's a laugh fest when a team drops a buttload of points on them and they have no answer. And then,,,,,you got Holtz "guaranteeing a 10 win season. Sorry Lou, we all know now that you're senile and the Gipper died years ago.
The bottom line is....until ND gets a quality head coach, they will lose. And if you think those recruits that have verbally committed prior to seeing a 2-11 humiliating season are gonna sign with ND, you're dead wrong. And remember, you're the one who though Dinardo was the coach for LSU. Those of us who do a little research, knew DiNardo had no chance of winning after he lost the guys already recruited before he landed at Tiger Stadium.
So,,,,,,,stop writing the ridiculous posts here, and send em where they're needed, to NotreDame's athletic dept.

    Seeya, Don't wanna beya.

Dam, I can't help myself. I will say this about your comparison........it's ironic you cite ONE loss as an indication of a program but let's put it in perspective. LSU went 8-4 and beat none other than Georgia Tech that year in the Peach Bowl. Just a reminder, we don't play the Military Academies, the Coast Guard, and the Yosemite Park Rangers.

Now.......if Notre Dame wins SEVEN or games and makes it to your second Bowl tie-in possibility (Which I think is the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas) I'll say I was wrong.

Where did I say that? Most ND fans knew that the ND-LSU bowlgame was going to be a bad matchup for ND, and that this season was going to get ugly thanks to Coach Willingham's lackadasical efforts at recruiting and coaching.

Last I checked, Ty wasn't involved in coaching the irish this season. CW owns that one. How long do you plan on blaming Ty? Are the kids that nd recruits so slow that they can't catch on to CW's coaching techniques? With or without TW, nd's admission standards haven't changed so if they are all so darn smart, why is it taking so long for them to catch on?

This will be my last post on this thread (it doesn't seem to have any end in sight).

First of all, for Charlie's question, I could ask the same about a kid wanting to come to LSU in the 90's. I know that if given the opportunity, I would have gone to ND. Hell if I could've afforded it, I would have paid and walked on (ala Rudy!). Alas, I wasn't recruited to play for ND (or any other Div 1 school), and couldn't afford to pay my way, so I ended up at LSU. Kids choose to play for a school for several reasons - for exposure, because of the coaching staff, for the free education, or simply for the love of the school. The last reason is typically a result of the enviornment in a kid's life..parent's/family member's favorite team, state schools, etc. My kid could end up being one of the top defensive backs in Louisiana. If so, it will be his choice where to go to school. His grandparents will push for LSU, but if he chose today it would be Notre Dame, and I couldn't be happier.

Finally, I really can't get over how much attention is given to the irish here. Yes the media likes them b/c they sell, but does it really mean anything in the grand scheme of LSU's program? They've only played each other about 8-10 times and neither team has had a historical advantage over the other.

Can't we all just get along!:hihi:
    Next topic, please.

Oh, that's one thing I will give to ND's program.......they're getting "Exposed" for sure. :hihi:

It's a college football forum, if you don't read any others, you should sometime, most of the ones I visit have two things in common: Threads about other teams, theads about Notre Dame. Heck, the USC on, every other word is LSU right now. They're even giving LSU a lot of props. We do have many other theads too though, if you came here in pursuit of other interests.

Have a good weekend Bayou, you're our adopted son here. Oh, btw, if you think there's a lot of Notre Dame discussion this week, check back if Penn St. sends Weis to an 0-2 start...LAWD.
