Why does the media think Weis is such a great coach?

They got dismantled at home by an unranked team, their worst home opening loss EVER. I saw zero signs of improvement, rather I see backsliding. Keep drinking the kool-aid though.

You were the 1st poster to predict the obvious with a majority of #1 picks. That is why you suffered backlash and that went along real nice with your reputation on this board. I am sure the post followed up with how awesome BQ was also. He had a long holdout given his draft position if you remember correctly.

I didnt expect it to last up until the season started but JR had to do what is best for his future. The clause in debate was given to every other top QB pick in the history of the draft and the Raiders are complete idiots if they thought he would sign a contract without it.

They've gotten "dismantled at home by unranked" teams in the past, althoght not in the home opener. The difference was that it occured w/ returning starters (Mich St w/ Davie, FSU w/ Willingham), and at that time there were maybe 2-3 verbal commits in recruiting.
I'm looking at the status of the program as a whole (although I don't deny that Saturday was horrible) where there are young talented players on the team that are starting to contribute early, ND is getting back into the front of recruiting (currently leading the nation for next yr's class), and they have a head coach who is willing to change his staff when things don't go well (which was a major reason Willingham was let go).

The bottom line is that if I like the taste of the kool aid, who cares how much I drink. There was a time, long, long ago, when I drank purple & gold koolaid while people called me crazy. Now it's the hottest selling drink in the bar. I'm just holding out for the same w/ the irish!

They were at this time last year too, but ended up 8th with rivals and 11th with scout- which is still good but not "Leading the Nation" by a long shot.

Not that we "Care" but you can't have your cake and eat it too. If a man drinks semen, he's gay.......period. If a man is a ND fan, he's miserable. If he thinks the bottom hadn't fallen out yet, he's delusional.

What say you if ND is 0-5, or 1-4 after first 5 games? Also, should that be the case, think you'll still be getting LOI's from those early comitts or they start bolting again?

Call me delusional, but I've deffinately seen worse times at ND. I don't think the situation is any more dire than when Saban lost to UAB. That'll probably incite more feedback from you, but that's the way I see it.

If ND is 0-5 I won't be happy, but I won't be surprised. Maybe that's why I'm not buying into the bottom's fallen out. I was not one of the fans that thought things were fixed b/c of the success the last two years. I just think things are heading in the right direction. I could be wrong, I thought Dinardo was the man for LSU (I even thought Curley was for about 2-3 wks), but time will tell.

As far as the LOI's, just about all of comitts (especially the higher ranked ones) came after the sugar bowl, so they've seen the down side of the irish already. Maybe they see an opportunity to play early. Again, time will tell.

I think the one thing that could make a commit change his mind about ND is if there are rumblings about Weiss being in the hot seat. That isn't the case now, but maybe after an 0-5 start, there could be talk...I think there would be at LSU...and God knows there would be at a place like Bama. Point is, I think one of the reasons ND has been able to recruit so well is because of the Weiss Kool-Aid, and that'll start tasting pretty...er...bitter:hihi: ...if they start out 0-5 or 1-4.

Of course, there are a lot of kids that are going to ND no matter what, as long as they are offered by them.:dis:

It has been worse than '98. We went 12-0 in '97 ans started off '98 0-2. I've had a couple fans of other programs offer me shirts hats and flags for camoflage to hide behind. My boss (a sparty) can't seem to stop grinning every time he sees me. Lucky no Domers in my area. They would still be idiots even with their own opening loss.

I intentionally chose my words to avoid calling "You" anything, that's why I used the phrase, "If a man". You've been a very classy representative of your team and you know I hold a lot of respect for you. These things (My feelings) are not towards you, just the program. :thumb:

I actually hate the word "Delusional" it's so cliche'........can't believe I used it.

That did cross my mind- good point to raise.

No offense meant towards you BayouIrish.
