Overall, I would say my views are closest to martin on the government side of things and more like salty on the religious side.[/QUOTE]

Oh I agree completely. I have a pretty thick skin, mainly from the years of ridicule in my pre-college school days since I am "disabled" so not much gets to me anymore, I don't care what you say as long as it doesn't pertain to my little sister or mom.

It does make for a better forum with more than one side to any issue a lot of the time though I would rather there be a lot of views that oppose mine because I find it to be more fun when I am vigorously defending my position and not just agreeing with everybody because they have already said what I wanted to.

You wouldn't make it very long with my roommates & I. All we do is rag on one another with comments about getting on each other's moms & sisters. :hihi:

It's not stuff like that, that doesn't really bother me but my mom has polio and my sister has MD too so it pisses me off when people rag on them for stuff like that. I know no one would do it here but that's pretty much the only thing that upsets me.

I don't know why I engage in debate. I usually don't care about an issue one way or the other. I tend to take the side that fewest people take and try and hash out as many points from the other side as I can. The only topics I have a strong opinion on either way or abortion and when LSUDeek tries to act like he understands Catholicism.

    That was a joke Deeksy.

I like seeing the different views in FSA. I generally have a belief about basic principles, but the application of them is sometimes challenged in FSA.

Other times, I enjoy FSA for the shear humor of reading the simplicity of some people's world view. It reminds me of a small town in Louisiana that I lived in, and I can get kinda nostalgic.

When someone resorts to personal attacks and insults instead of attacking ideas, then they have lost the debate. And I let them know it.

I don't understand why people would bother engaging in debate if they won't even consider changing their opinion.
