I thought he was pretty good. He took Rohan through that season. Seemed like they threw for 400 yards a game. He wasn't as prolific with the passing game after Rohan which is interesting because he had JR but overall I think he did pretty well, couple games here and there that were an anomoly. I'm thinking of that crap Auburn game in particular. The biggest knock I had against Fisher was that wierd hopping fullback move, Poor Hester.

We lost #1 overall QB, 2 1st round WRs, our best returning WR for most games, and 2 starting OL and we are averaging more yards and more points than last year. Without saying anything about Fisher, I will say Crowton is doing well and I'm glad he's here.

Playcalling was only one aspect of Jimbo's job here at LSU. While I believe he is somewhat conservative and predictable calling plays, he's a solid coach. He has proven he can coach up young QBs. He's also a very good recruiter.

I can't dog anyone who helped build LSU into what it is today, not even little Nicky. Jimbo will get his chance one day to be a HC and I'll be rooting for him.

Not because of Jimbo, but in spite of him. We won the NC because of a freak defense that year, did we forget that?

Jimbo is a HORRIBLE, PREDICTABLE offensive coordinator. He's proving it yet again this year with FSU. I bet it won't take BB 7 yrs. to get rid of his @ss!

We put up some huge offensive numbers in '01 and '03. Did we forget that?

Fisher had 3 first round draft picks last year and still didn't have as great an offense as GC has now with mostly freshmen and sophs. That pretty much sums up JF tenure here at LSU. He does less with more.

I love the way GC runs this offense. No longer can other teams predict what play is gonna be called. If there is one thing to criticize, which is hard to find, I do wish RP would throw more when his number is called. It seems like we run everytime he's in there. I loved that call in the VT game with the option pass from RP. He had RP run all night which set that up, genious. Dumbo would never have called that. I hope we see that a little more of that as the season goes.

I'm not comparing Jimbo and Crowton. I just think it's wrong to not give Jimbo any credit for what he did for us.

Using the talent argument is like saying Saban/Muschamp should get no credit for coaching since we had so much talent on defense. Same goes for Pelini.

It takes talent and coaching to be successful. Our offense was pretty damn successful in those two years I mentioned.

Again, IN SPITE of him. I'll give you '01, Rohan and Reed lit it up. But '03 was because of our defense. It wasn't because of Dumbo's creativity. Plus LSU played a lot of cream-puffs that year....only 3 ranked teams in the regular season, so that helped.

You know, for the OC it is about recruiting, coaching, and scheming. All the first round talent got to LSU, then was developed. If the strategy seemed weak, well 2 out of 3 ain't bad. A lot of coaches with great schemes post L's every week because someone else has better athletes and does something with them. Heck, a lot of coaches can't win with better athletes because they can't develop them. Sometimes it pays to look at the body of work instead of a body part.

Although when looking at the Golden Girls I sometimes have trouble following my own advice.

Show me a quarterback coached by Fisher that didn't make marked improvement. Nix, Craig, Booty, Mauck, Russell, and Flynn showed continuous improvement when he was the coach. In addition he gets a lot of credit from those guys for their improvement. Even Clausen, after he transferred to Tennessee, singled out Fisher for teaching him the mechanics of his position.
I don't understand the need to demean coaches and players who helped put LSU back on the national stage of sports.
If we win a national championship this year and Miles leaves for Michigan will he be next?
