Why are so many schools claiming B.S. football "titles"?

Who cares? They are in such a minority!

Ok: I now declare Nicholls St. the national champs!

That doesn't make this any different!

Dumb people like Tubberville will always do stupid stuff!

Ok caddy, that was a load of BS and you know it. The university purchased rings for the team which plainly say national champions. So the university has indeed claimed a NC for 04. Nice try though lmfao.

I'm continually amazed at how some people will stand there and try to defend the absolutely indefensible. Not just in sports, as in this case, but in all areas of life. Goes to show what our society as a whole has become.

Ah dammit, we had to go and ruin a completely good lie with the truth.

I am of the belief that unless you win it out-right, you did not win it.

I think Ole Miss did it so they could have something.....anything hanging from the previous 30 years

To our defense, at least we split with Bama!

It is insane to claim a title when you got the same record as a team who beat you! HAHAHAa

    :eek:lefire:

Actually, I believe the SEC office recognizes Ole Miss' SEC West co-championship with us. But it's just that...a CO-championship. Not an outright title. By the same token, we've been SEC West co-champs a few
times (twice under DiNardo)...we just didn't go to Atlanta. In the 1999-2000
basketball season, we were overall SEC co-champions w/ Kentucky, Tennessee, and Florida...yet we count that as an SEC title. And it is recognized as such.

So you also agree that going undefeated in the Mountain West conference is equivalent to going undefeated in the SEC...good for you. :dis:

Also, wasn't Utah the first team to get to play in a BCS bowl game? I wonder why that is...maybe because the Mountain West is soooooo competitive EVERY SINGLE YEAR. :dis:

Bottom line...get a playoff, then you won't have so many people "claiming" national championships. I envy NCAA basketball.

You struggled against Va Tech, USC beat OU by 40 pts...
