Welcome and great post!!! I'm sure there are more Auburn faithful that feel the same way you do. Let's hope at least. Great baseball series this weekend and congratulations on the wins.
Don't get me wrong, I would love to have a National Championship flying over the stadium, but I have given grief for years to Bama fans for some of their "National Championships". I am content with owning their butts and being SEC Champs 2004. I am looking forward to rolling into Baton Rouge at 6-0 next year (yeah, I am optimistic) and watching what I figure is the game to decide the West. For the record, I am predicting a 9-2 record for my Tigers next year. As far as the "mamby pamby everybody's a winner in some way" comment, everyone ain't a winner. That's why we keep score, even in 4 year old tee ball games.
Welcome to this board, AT1990. You should be very proud of that 13-0, and the championship of the toughest conference in America. Glad to see that you're realistic enough to understand that fair or not, the BCS is the system currently in place.
That's primarily because you appear to have a tendency to say one thing here, and other things elsewhere.
Thanks, I listened to Saturday's game on the radio, but missed the other two. It was a good game, but that 4th or 5th inning killed us. I think we had three errors in the last half of the game that put the nail in the coffin. I was surprised that we came back on Sunday. I just hope we can continue on that bit of success and beating Georgia Tech last week.
Not just in Championships does this happen though. Example: Stanford/Cal Game (THE BAND GAME) Stanford in there records still has this as a win for them. I guess DENILE aint just a river in Eygpt anymore. Oh and great post for a first timer. I have to tell you even though we are all a Tiger Family here, we hardly ever agree and most never boring.
4-Ole Miss actually hung a banner at their stadium proclaiming themselves as SEC-West Champions in 2003. While this "championship" may technicly be correct as Ole Miss tied LSU for the overall SEC West standings with a 7-1 record in 2003, it is ignoring the tie-breaker rules of the SEC which says head to head results decide who actually goes to play in the SEC Championship Game which is what the season is all about and the very reason there are SEC Divisions in the 1st place. What is really lame about Ole Miss claiming this "title" is that LSU won the tie-breaker by beating Ole Miss on the very field where Ole Miss hung their banner. Then there is the fact that LSU also won the SEC Title as well as the true National Title in 2003 as well. Hey dude, you do realize that in basketball we now have a banner saying we won the West right? When in actuality, Bama did?
Couple of points. First, it's important to distinguish between rings for the team and a claim of an MNC. A team can honor its accomplishments in any way it sees fit to spend its budget. Fact: The University does not claim an MNC for the 04 season nor does the NCAA sanction a NC. Most AU fans that I know or that I have discussed this with do not claim it either. :thumb:
First, it's important to distinguish between rings for the team and a claim of an MNC. .......ummmmmmm, then why do the rings say "National Champions" instead of "Nice Job, Guys!"?
